Careers are not only desk jobs, they can be teaching, biology, forestry, hospitality. "Career" means a field for pursuit of professional achievement. So, yes I think having the goal of achieving what you want is important. I think you are trying to decide if you want a job versus a profession.

I agree with Brainac. You need to decide a job or career. I started out with a career in software sales, but after layoffs due to poorly managed companies, mergers, buyouts, dot-com burst, etc..., I left the hi-tech world because it is too unstable. Although some view my marketing gig a a job, it provides stability, decent money and benefits, and most important, I get time with my family. As you get older, time only moves faster so spread your wings and find something you enjoy. You just might end up with a great career :-)

You may be choosing the wrong career. There are plenty that don't involve sitting behind a desk all day. You also have the option to be an entrepreneur. I would talk to a counselor and discuss your options before spending time and money on a career that you won't be happy with.

A career is a broad term that doesn't necessarily mean "Desk Job".
You can be a business owner, teacher, doctor, lawyer, engineer, travel agent......etc all of these are careers.
Write down the things that you like to do: are you a people person? Do you work better alone or with other people? do you need supervision or can you take on task by yourself? You should be able to decide on a career that is right for you. I know in my town we have a career center; check in your neighborhood and see if you have one. They give free assessments to see what career is right for you.

well, you go to a job and enter a career for the money so that you can use that money to buy other things.
you don't really need a career if you want to move to a warm place and just hang out on the streets, then you won't be stuck at a desk.

I know. Human beings arent here to work for their life. Things shouldnt have to cost money.
But that's how it ended up to be. Its all apart of greed.
Unfortunately, a career is needed to survive in this world.

No, it's not that important. Especially if it takes quality and quantity time away from your family. There are plenty of decent jobs out there that aren't career jobs that consume your entire life. And ,no, it's not for everyone. Good luck!!

One of the most common questions spouses ask when confronting a marriage crisis is this: How can I save my marriage if my partner doesn't want to help find a solution? How do I succeed I am trying to save my marriage on my own? Learn here https://tr.im/2wMLE
It is a typical enough story: one partner leaves, the other stays. One remains 'in love', the other is uncertain. Whatever it is that has caused a couple to be apart, the one person who remains bears the prospect, fear, doubt, desire, hope of saving his or her marriage' alone.

No a career is not @ all important.
There are far more important like health & happiness.
You get up day after day, come rain or shine & do your 40+ hours a week, give it your all, come home tired & the second your surplus to requirements BANG your gone.
