The company I work for is Union, and about ready to go on strike. I live paycheck to paycheck as it is, with a mortgage, carpayment, and all the bills, not to mention now heating oil. I don't want to go on strike, I was planning on continuing coming to work, but now it seems that anyone who walks through the picket line will NOT have a job when the strike is over! Will my mortgage company and bank understand if I explain to them that there is a strike and I will not be able to make my payment that month? How can I continue to make money, because all the other jobs in the area are all minimum wage, and I can't afford to live on that either.

Isn't it interesting that when a union company goes on strike, the workers get no pay while the union leaders are sitting nice and fat.

If you need to work, then cross the line. Your family comes first. If you are paying union dues, you may consider pulling out of the union.

You know your situation best, so do what you have to do.

No, your bill collectors will not understand. The only way people get out of paying bills is if there is a law that requires them to hold off on bill collection. These are usually for elderly or disability situations. The easiest way to get extra cash nowadays is to sell a bunch of old junk on eBay. It's like having a garages sale. People will buy just about anything if the price is right, and its easy to do. Most people have at least a thousand dollars worth of stuff laying around the house.
