Stay professional until you can move on.
Life is too short to dwell in jobs that make you unhappy.
I'm never happier than when walking out of the hospital. There are so many who don't.

Well, first off, change the paradigm you use to view your boss.
For instance, don't give him the power it takes to make you feel you are under attack.
The less fear you hold toward him, the stronger you will be and the more control you will have. If your power starts with you and not him, then you have taken a huge leap forward.
I once worked with a girl i referred to as 'office gestapo;. She constantly tried to control every aspect of our office including the topics my coworkers and I discussed. She literally wanted us discussing only those things that she okayed.
This type of person is a bully.
Yeah, they can disguise themselves as a boss or office manager, those are just titles.
Look behind that title and you most likely will find a very frightened individual.
Most bullies are frightened of loss of power.
They need to be control freaks so that they can keep their little corner of the world safe and uninvaded.
Usually the easiest way for a frightened coward to do that is to become a bully.
In experience I have found that the best way to eliminate a bully is to take away their magic.
Bullies take for granted that everyone will 'move aside' or 'move over' for their bull crap act.
Bring the subject out into the open, and watch him bluster and stumble for new ground. It will literally shock you at how easy it is to pull the rug out from under his feet.
Stabbing in the back is an interesting maneuver, think about it, can he stab you in the back if you are turned around facing him?
Impossible.
Most times the easiest tactics work, most often it is the concept of mutual respect and common courtesy, both of which I suspect he is lacking. I am sure that his actions most times cause you to overlook these choices too. It is part of their poison as bullies. Don't give him that power.
Pick up that ball (common courtesy and mutual respect,) and throw it at him and watch him either dodge or scramble for new tactics other than outright bullying.
Think it over for a bit, I am sure you will find the right tactic to fit your specific situation.
GOOD LUCK and let me know how it turns out.

No one should have to put up with a bullying backstabbing boss. I suggest you read the conduct procedure of your staff handbook and take some legal advice from employment lawyers on whether he is in breach. If so, you may be able to leave and claim constructive/unfair dismissal. The last thing he wants is a tribunal and he will probably want to settle with you. Prob best if you have lined up a job to go to before you take any action. Cheers (a boss who employs 70 odd professional staff)

If he is commiting reportable behaviour then report him.
Work like may be uncomfortable for a while but it will be worth it in the long run. These people act the way they do because they think no one will report them.
Go for it, they will probably try to talk you into withdrawing your complaint but stick to it, you'll feel much better and hopefully something will be done about him.

I'd look into his behaviour on the sly with the citizens advice or equivalent. he needn't know, and find out your rights then you can decide whether to act on it or not. As an added bonus I'd put laxatives in there coffee it won't solve anything but it will make you feel better and give you a few minutes peace while he's stuck on the toilet

If you've got other people that you can use as a referee(s) then brush up your CV and get a new job.
In the mean time; document issues as they arise (Date and timed) until you have a comprehensive diary. Then you may have to report him for bullying (or whatever). Be prepared to battle your corner on this one though and get support as and when you need it from colleagues.

well try to stay out of the limelight so to speak, take care of your job and make sure you handle all the details whatever so you have your a** covered. it sounds like your boss is just out to get you. probably cause his boss told him/her that your a better worker and could replace him/her if they didnt be careful. so its probably just resentment just shake it off and continue to handle your buis. and good luck :)

Depends on how dirty you want to be....You can mentally abuse them to the point of driving them crazy...Never tell anyone what you do...I had Satan for a boss one time..I sent letters to all his ritzy neighbors telling them they had a registered sex offender in their neighborhood, I put his house up for sale, passed out flyers at work inviting everyone to his house for a barbecue, Gay Pride bumper sticker on his car.....be creative...the days after you make a hit..you will be able to tell it !!
