I went on a job interview yesterday, and I felt like it went really well. The president of the company said that he had interviewed a few candidates and would be interviewing a few more---and that he was going to make a decision tomorrow (which is now today) and call everyone, whether they got the job or not. It's around 3pm now and I haven't heard anything.....they open at 8am and close at 5pm. So my question is, what time do you think they will call? I'm guessing sometime after 5pm after the work day is over? I'm starting to get antsy, but I don't want to call them because I don't think it's appropriate. I sent them an e-mail today thanking them for taking the time to speak with me etc. etc.....so should I just hang tight and wait? I'm really starting to get discouraged. Thanks!!

I'm a 19 y/o college student studying economics. I actually like my part time job at the local grocery store and would like to make it a career. I'm excellent with organization of stock and meticulous (some would say OCD lol) about keeping shelves in good order. It's a job where I can honestly say I've never left early.
But, in my research I see that a grocery department or store manager usually only needs a high school diploma.

I like the industry but with a management career I would not make as much money as I might elsewhere. ($12-16 an hour)

Is there a similar career I might like where I could be involved in "warehousing" or "inventory management" where I might fit better with my bachelors degree and skills?

........... How do you cure it?
I love my career! I've finally found my nitch..... but working 6 to 7 days a week 8am to 9pm or 10pm for the last two and a half years has put me into the burnout phase. I never thought that It would happen to me, and I would love to get back on track and get my focus back. Any good suggestions would be greatly apreciated!

I have just started a new job and written a report and a 2 page
powerpoint presentation and received feedback on both reports.

On the word report, I received positive feedback but the boss had noted she had changed some spelling errors. I was a bit miffed and compared her version to mine and saw no change. On the powerpoint presentation, I received the same feedback but this time she said she changed 2 spelling errors. I asked her what they were but she couldn't remember as she changed them as she was going through the document.

I am now a feeling a bit paranoid as this is the first time I have received this kind of 'direct' feedback. I think it may just be her style (she is dutch and they tend to be direct!) but I am not sure or am i making a mountian out of a molehill? Should I continue as is and just accept the feedback and move on as there was no change to what I had written or the format?

Would you work at a place you hate to go to everyday, hating every minute of it even though it has benefits and a descent wage even though your health will be harmed....
OR...would you rather do a job you'd jump out of bed in excitement each day because it brings you joy and fulfillment but your bank account is seriously hurting?
Be realistic.
If you are in that sort of situation (hating) what are you thinking of doing about it?
If you love your job, how are you managing financially in today's world?

Hi their! Thanks for taking the time to look at this question.

My dilemma is as follows.

#I will be in my current job one year on the first of November. The pay is pretty good and the people i work with are ok. The company is pretty small though, and a little unprofessional at times.

I have been offered a new job which is closer to my new home (havent moved in yet). Its with a HUGE company who are global and have a turnover of 8billion a year.

Problem is the pay they are offering is the same as my current one. Now in my current job their is also bonus structures in place, but they arent guarunteed.

My question is, what to do? Should I stay in my current job where I know the pay is ok, little chance of furthering my career though, or should I jump on board with the new crowd, and work for the SAME wages.

Should I try and hammer out a deal with the new job offer? Tell them my figure I want and if they cant give it good luck?

What if I pass up the oppurtunity???

I graduated from college a couple of years ago with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and I hate my job and don't want work anymore. I think I would rather sleep all day and do nothing.
P.S. I don't have kids or anything like that so this is only going to effect me.
