I know there are many factors, but I am now being forced to look at a new job because of this wonderful economy in Michigan. I have only worked at one place my whole career (14 years) and have gotten a lot of perks (car, gas card, etc)
Since I have been sheltered in this one postition I am not sure what the world in general pays salary-wise.
I was told to put my salary requirements on my resume but I don't want to over price myself looking for jobs in a certain sector that just don't pay that.

i have a 4 year business marketing degree and find it very difficult to find a good paying job. i work as a CSR rep and make diddly squat. Maybe its my area as i am in buffalo,ny. Anyone in other states where the workforce is good and pay is strong, because it sure is not upstate, ny.
Its a catch 22, realestate prices are reasonable but jobs are scarce and taxes are high. Does any one have any reccomendations on where in the U.S. there are average price homes, with good paying jobs? Good pay I'm refffering to at least $13/15 an hour.

I will be applying for a very competative internship next year. The application won't be available until early next summer. Although I do have qualifications, I might not be the most qualified amongst hundreds of applicants. So, how do I make myself stand out? There is only 1 position available, the internship is for 1 year, and it is in Alaska.

Tell me what you think of this:

I was thinking of sending them a letter expressing my interest in their program in either November or December. I would include my resume with the letter. I also thought that I could send another letter in Spring saying that I was still interested and eager to apply. The second letter would be much shorter. Then, if granted an interview in late summer, I would send a card/letter thanking them for their consideration. So.. is sending two letters overkill? Will it make me look desperate?

Also.. does sending a picture with my application look unprofessional, or could it be helpful?

Any thoughts? Thanks!

When you are being interviewed by a potential employer and they ask if you have any questions, what are some good things to ask them? What should you avoid asking? Is it good to ask about opportunity for advancement, and/or getting raises, and/or benefits, and/or overtime?

Any more interview do's and don'ts?? Its for my husband who is interviewing this afternoon to be the manager of the tech department of a local office store. Real answers only please; thanks!
