When you are being interviewed by a potential employer and they ask if you have any questions, what are some good things to ask them? What should you avoid asking? Is it good to ask about opportunity for advancement, and/or getting raises, and/or benefits, and/or overtime?
Any more interview do's and don'ts?? Its for my husband who is interviewing this afternoon to be the manager of the tech department of a local office store. Real answers only please; thanks!

Wow those were all really good answers! I'm going to let the question go to a vote; I can't decide which answer is the best!

With whom would I be working with?
What are the advancement opportunities?
What happened to the last person who held this job?
When do you expect to make a decision about the postion?

I always make sure I get all the benefits info and some general info on the culture. If possible, I like to look around the place. The working hours are also very important to know (as well as overtime expectations). Ask about the general policy for taking time off. It's an important thing to know if you have kids.

There are barriers. However, the predominant query they continuously ask is- Would you do not forget at any factor at some point hiring this man or woman again? That query by myself can keep plenty of weight with a competencies agency. So when you have had severe disorders with ur earlier, you larger positioned the ones playing cards at the desk.

In addition to asking specifics to the job and how it works with the organizaiton, I typically ask how long the person has been at the company and what brought/keeps them there. That gives me the feel of what type of company I would be working for. They can have a great bottom line, but the employees may not always be treated well.

1) make sure he understands the company or organization. He had best know about their products or function, ceo cfo cio etc. Whatever he can find,. But don't stress too too much, just know what you can about the company
2) if they ask what his best/worst quality is DO NOT say something stupid like 'I care too much' or 'I work too hard'. Those are lame and overdone. A few good ones:
Best qualities - dilligence, detail oriented, team oriented
Worst qualities - get caught up in the details sometimes, too eager to help and sometimes lose track of time
Best of luck to your husband, interviews are awful, but I'm sure he'll do brilliantly with you on his side!

I always ask 'what do you expect from a manager of the tech department... '(whatever the job he is going for is)
and yeah its fine to ask about future career opportunities and company benefits.
Perhaps not ask about future potential wage rises
wish him luck from me!

To ask
1. Will job involve travel?
2. Growth factors
3. Learnings expected
Not to ask
1. Ans to which r available. Eg abt company's paid up capital, sales etc since its expected the candidate must have read financial statments or visited websites etc.
2. Never make a direct quote...let them quote the salary etc
