An Associates Degree is truly no better than a GED or Diploma nowadays.
College used to seperate people in terms of educational quotients...but now that largely everyone is going to college to get at least an Assoc. Degree....it doesn't seperate anyone at all.
Now, degrees in terms of importance also depend largely upon where you live. The northeastern states are HUGE on degree this, degree that....without it make 20k/25k per year....and I don't mean an AD, you'll need at least a Bachelors.
In the south, they're more apt to train you if you have the right drive for the profession....degrees aren't as much of an issue there.
But with Bachelors Degrees becoming the new seperator, give it a few more years and they'll be inadequate as well.
College is not the answer, entrepeneurship with mentorship is the answer.
For example, when I was living in Pennsyltucky (Pennsylvania)....my BA in Marketing did me no good at all, I couldn't find a job outside of sales anywhere.
I went to Texas, and everything changed....it was just a backwards mentality of the area up in PA that held things up.
Since then, I've become a private business owner.....and found out that it's so much more fulfilling than being an employee.
Anyhow, long diatribes aside, no.....Associates mean nothing anymore. I don't hire people by what paperwork they have, I hire them by their quality of personality and drive to learn and lead.

Of course. An associates degree does matter. It is better then having no degree. Not all of us can afford to go to a 4 year college, so what do you want to do for a livng? Do you have connections that can get you a job without a degree? Probably not. One of my roommates only have a high school diploma and he isin the retail indsutry. Do you enjoy serving people? If not, then earn a degree or else you will be serving customers for the rest of your life.

An Associates Degree is a 2-year degree. It's not a fancy way of saying anything other than "I have a 2-year degree".

When hiring for my company, I take into consideration all degrees. Not WHAT you have a degree in but the fact that you took some determinate to start college and accomplish something which is something even I didn't do.

It's an opportunity
If you get a job, you can move up.
Any degree is better than no gegree.
And if you fiind an opportunity,
you can upgrade.
