Unfortunately that's never a good step no matter how good it might feel.
I've been there and avoided doing it but I do know a couple of people who did it. After going to jail for assault of a boss, your career options are gone. Not to mention the difficulty you'll face with any applications for passports, travel documents or other documents that use a background check before issuing.
If you have family, they too will feel the repercussions.
Best to go to a gym and pound the punching bag while thinking of this person. Then get immersed in your hunt for your next job. One really good note for you is that most people end up in better jobs after an experience like this.
Take the high road and enjoy your new job.

Sure go ahead.
You will spend the night in jail and your boss still wins.
The best revenge against your boss is to grow past him. Be happy in your new job and do so well that you make more money and live a better life than your now former boss.

I would advise against it. I too have wanted to do that on an occasion or two. Even if you do not list this former employer as a reference he or she may be contacted for future employment purposes. There is really no way to talk around this to a potential employer.
You may want to thank this boss for the experience so that no negative information will be given when a potential employer contacts him/her. If that's too hard to do, then just try to be gracious and exit knowing that you don't have to see him/her ANYMORE!!!!
Congratulations on your new freedom and good luck.

No I don't think it's a good idea unless you want to have the last memory of you being escorted from the building in handcuffs or an ambulance. Leave with dignity and be happy you don't have to deal with the jerk anymore. Good luck.

If you were an employer and were considering hiring someone and you called a former employer and they told you that the person that you are considering slaped them on the last day would you hire that person?
Don't cut yourself off at the knees.
