I would choose to be happy. Life is too short to not be enjoyed. As far as finances are concerned they can be dealt with. However, to achieve this happiness doesn't mean you just suddenly quit your job. Just like everthing else in life sit down and devise a plan. For instance while you job hunt for that "ideal" job, reexamine your finances and make adjustments. That may mean calling finance companies and working out other financial plans. Stop all unnecessary expenses, do you really need cable TV? It may not be easy. Such decisions add character to you life and the choice to define what you accept as true happiness. Good Luck.

Four months ago I quit a relatively high-paying job because I hated the atmosphere and other things that were going on. I had no desire to go there anymore. I'd been there almost eight years.
A month ago, I started a job that pays less, and I will have to budget, do without some "luxuries." But I really like the work, and I like the people I'm working with. It's a smaller, more friendly company and atmosphere.
Now, if I had a lot of debt or for some reason needed the extra money, it might be different. But right now, I'm happier than I've been in quite awhile, even though I'm making less money. And I'm not stressing all the time - that alone makes all the difference.

Low paying job i love, but not too low on the pay, i mean you need to be able to pay bills and have a social life to, i couldn't stand working in a job i hate no matter how much it paid.

Well, since I am now in a job that I hate but has good benefits and pay, I would have to side with the low pay and loving it job. I had a job like that before this one and it was great. Everyday great attitude, loved living and had fun doing my job. Now I'm very stressed, I get tired and sick feeling on my way to work or even the night before it can start.
Stick with the happiness. The ulcers and the constant worrying aren't worth it.

I'd rather have a job I love and receive bad pay, as long as one can live off of it. I don't care for living what I consider to be lavish, and can't wait until I am old enough to begin doing so. I hate how wasteful every one in my family (including myself at times) is with their money.

I left my job and benefits of 5 years to start my own business, fell flat on my face, went back to work at another chemical plant, quit again and am now trying harder than ever to be my own boss and make ends meet. I love what I do,see my kids more, make my wife happier because I do the house chores when not working. You can make it!
