I'm thinking about doing a modern apprentiship in electrics, plumbing or installation ie phone companies. Does anyone know of any company that is recruiting for apprentiship candidates. Or know of any websites that l could look on for more information. Has anyone done an apprentiship in any of these areas and thought that it was a good idea for you. Thank you.

He failed a drug test at Swift after driving a year and a half. This was Swift company drug test and not the DOT. He still has his CDL's but got fired. Can he just go to another company and drive? Where are his records? Who will hire if it is listed on DAC report?

I am 20 years old and can pursue any field I want. I like math, science, working outside, cooking, organization, and do not like working inside of an office or dealing with paperwork.

I have co-workers who come up to me, don't say hi or good morning, and immediately begin to ask, "did you ship out the ups package'? or 'I'm expecting a few guests in 10 minutes, can you run to Dunkin Donuts and grab 4 dozen donuts? Oh, and can you make coffee when you come back?"

Not only do they lack in simple people skills, it seems as if manners were a word they never heard of. The men are the laziest men I have ever met in my entire life! They have me carry the boxes to their desks, and do not assist me when it's obvious I need help. Only 2 guys at this company are cool & friendly.

At my other companies that I have worked for, even the lawyers and structural engineers were nice! Yes, lawyers! At the time, I thought they were a bit rude, but they always said hi, always assisted and always made sure they paid me respect. Here, these people do neither. And they are only industrial designers!

FYI: I used to live in NYC, but now I live in PA. BIG DIFFERENCE!

Help!

In my office there's a co-worker who I'm surprised is still employed (productivity issues, attendance issues, and severe attitude problem). Nothing has been documented over the last two years and a manager told me that they can't just terminate her without documenting repeated behaviors for a while, which I found odd, because Washington is an At Will employment state.

Which brings me to my question. Every company I've worked for (including this one) has a policy you read upon hire that employment can be terminated by either party at will with or without cause.

Is At Will only applied to people who don't belong to a protected group? The co-worker in question is a 55 y.o. caucasian woman.
