I make 25K a year. I work hard, and provide a valuable service
to society. Yet I know others make much more. I personally feel
many of them are overpaid. They have their Audi's and new homes, and cushy jobs. It upsets me, I have to admit.

What is your experience with bosses?
Bosses feel free to explain why a little power goes to your head or is it all that responsibility?

While on a business trip to Sydney, I learned of Long Service Leave. It sounded like an outstanding benefit. Of course, in the USA, we have nothing like it.

This benefit is required under law, correct?

Also, do you believe that it works, i.e. creates loyalty between employer and employee?

I work at a job that provides great pay AND benefits (much better then I did as a teacher).

I feel as if I am going mad (well "mad" might be a a bit overstating it,)

however.

I like working with people that involve caring for others (that's why I chose teaching, but I couldn't pay my bills) and in turn ALSO are supportive of the people they work with.

This is not the scenario of this position.

As a secondary part to this question: IF you did say yes to "have any of you felt "displaced" at a job?," answer this queation:

"What did you do to resolve it?"

I WILL tell you that I am not looking for responses that advise ME what to do. I also don't want to hear that I am being negitive.

I love to work, and I plan to work the rest of my life.. I just want to be true to what I need.

I have been at this job for 6 years and have a hard time believing that this is all there is.

Thank you for your responses.

I'd like your personal opinion. If you've ever interviewd some one for a job and they've used slang terms (what's up, yo, etc.) what was your impression. Did their language affect your opinion and overall impression of them? How-so?

I have been at the same job for about 4 years now. Its a very good job. However, someone sent me a job they thought would interest me. Even though I didnt have their exact criteria, I applied (on Sunday) and got a call back about my qualifications (on Tuesday). The hiring manager said that the next step would be that another person would call me with an interview time. I have not heard anything since. I am beginning to think that either I came off stupid in the screening, or that I do not have the qualifications they are looking for. I decided to follow up with a question about the job. The hiring manager got back to me very promptly and gave me her email address. She said she would be out of the office for the most part tomorrow but will be back on Monday if I would like to speak to her then. I let her know that I was still excited about this potential opportunity. What is your opinion? Should I ask her if I am still being considered for the position? Do I look desperate?

ok. I got a job offer, but they only have orientation on certain days at certain times. I told the company that I have school during that time, and she says that this seldomly happens, and she will have to see what to do regarding when I could come in for the orientation. I had asked her if they would call me when she found out, and she said yes. It's been almost a week and no call. I'm running low on money, and the time of paying bills are coming up. I don't know if I should call her and ask her if she has heard anything or not. I don't want to sound too pushy by calling them, but if I don't start work soon, then i'll have to take out a loan to help me pay my bills that are coming up, which I don't want to do. That's why I am so stressful regarding this. What should I do? Should I call? Should I skip classes just to go to the orientation?
