I have been looking for a new job for about six months now. I feel the time has come to step up my efforts. I have two people who have given me professional references. At what point would it be appropriate to submit those letters of reference to a potential employer, at the interview itself, before the interview or after the interview attached to the thank-you-for-the interview letter?

Here's an interesting job interview question that I was asked which I felt totally unprepared for.

I had a job interview yesterday and I was asked as to why I left my old job (in reality, I was accidentally rude to a couple of people while working under a lot of pressure from school and such).

I told the guy that "I wasn't my best, I wasn't feeling well and that's when I parted from my job which gave me better opportunities." For the record, I'm not rude at all in real life; I was just under a lot of pressure from the job and from school.

The guy asked me what my former manager would say if he called him so I said the usual; "Polite, willing to please, etc." Then here's the kicker. To paraphrase the interviewer, he said "Well, then, if you were so good, then why did he let you go?" I was shocked speechless for about a second or so.

But he did say this "Or would you rather not talk about it." Of course, I opted not to talk about it. Do you think I might have the job?

Does anyone have experience in dispatching or know what dispatchers do? I have an interview on Monday morning for a dispatcher position with a furniture company. The guy was kind of short with me on the phone and he said, "Do you even know anything about dispatching?" I know OF many people without experience or any education that get hired for dispatching jobs, so I know that it can't be that hard. I also have the skills, education and administrative experience, capability of learning, and fact that I am a fast learner, so I know it is something that I could catch on to easily. It would be nice to take some knowledge about 'dispatching' with me to the interview. That way I can show him that I am familiar with what they do and capable.

Ok...here's my issue. I've had 3 jobs in 3 1/2 years. I'm not a job skipper. My first job I was laid off from. The second job I quit because they cut back on secretaries and froze raises. The job I have now I want to quit because they're merging with another company and moving to the clear other side of Indianpolis, which screws up my daycare plans. There are also no benefits with my job now and I'm getting ready to have a baby and I want to have a new job by the time my maternity leave is up. How do I explain in an interview/resume/cover letter my jobs without looking like I'm unreliable or I job skip. Any career advice would be awesome.

I do not have many details about how the hiring process works. The only thing I know is that I accepted the job on the phone more than 1 month ago but I have not received a formal written offer. Aren't I supposed to receive one detailing the salary, the benefits and other details? I do not know what to think. Can anybody give me any idea about what is possibly going on here? Thank you.
