I need to return to college so I can start earning more money to support my family. I do not have any college degrees at this time. I'm very intersted in the finance field. For those of you who are an finance adviser, would you recomend it to someone like myself (married, male, 37, 2 year old daughter)?

I used to work in the financial field and I was once told. "Go into the world of finance the sky is the limit on what you can make." Evidentely it's true because I know people that are making more than doctors. If you have a strong background in the financial field you could go into business for yourself advising people on their budget, credit, investing, etc... Most of the people I worked with needed help getting their credit in order because they wanted to buy a house or a nicer car. You don't need a degree to be a financial advisor, financial analyst, or a bookkeeper as these can be worked on a freelance basis. There are tons of people that need help with their credit. Go to the book stores and look for books on personal finance. They are a good source of information on credit issues. I made a ton of money doing that. I no longer do it because my child was diagnosed with an illness that required my full attention so I could no longer work doing this as it does take up a good amount of time. You will work with a lot of clients in the evening hours. Although I set aside one night a week that I went out to client's homes. This is a business that you could run from home very easily.

Can be very lucrative but can take time to build a clientele. Besides requiring a good head for finance, much of the job will be getting clients so you need to be sure you have the interpersonal / sales skills. Good luck

It can be a very rewarding field if you can build up a good clientele and practice.
