I work for a large company, and I got my start here as a temp. Actually, most of the people I know here also started as temps. I started doing it in college because I could only work during breaks from school. This helped me get my foot in the door and make connections in the company, and ultimately led to my getting a permanent job here.

Temping benefits both employers and employees. Employers get to "try out" potential employees before comitting to hiring them. Also, if they just have a short-term project, they can quickly bring in extra help. Employees, as well, can "try out" an employer to see if they like the work, the environment, etc. They also gain experiences that can be varied, which they could take with them to another job.

Overall, I'm glad to have had the opportunity to experience many different facets of my company before ultimately accepting a permanent position here. And I have been able to use the contacts that I have made to help me in my career.

NOT AT ALL-
In many ways temp jobs have helped many people with out an employment background, comunities in which jobs are scarse, and so many others be able to work to make a check, even if they don't stay, it is a check ,and any money helps!
If companies see you as a potencial asset to the company you get hired, however if they have no main openings, it still helps people be able to make some money for the time being!
They help way to many people, so I believe that they are GREAT!

of course not. A lot of businesses need temporary help, or just want to test out their future employees to see if they will fit in. I think they are a great idea.

At least they can find jobs for people, so they should not be banned.
