i'm not sure what i'm supposed to do with old paystubs, and i've got a drawer full of them

If you've already filed your taxes for the year that the paystubs are in, then shred them and just keep your tax forms as documents.

There's not really any need to keep them. I usually hold on to my last one each year, so I can estimate my tax refund before my W2 arrives, but, other than that, they're not really that useful.

You read them all very carefully to make sure you got the right amount.Then you check them with your bank statements to make sure they got all your money.Then you save them until the taxman comes and notices that you lost one.

Financial records should be kept for up to three years (in case of an audit).
