I work in the medical unit of a large jail. Last night, a deputy was cut in the face with a shank by an inmate on lock-down. Violence doesn't happen often, but it is a possibility.

I suppose some crazy person could come in and shoot up the place. Oddly, the PD where I work is less secure than the FD. That's a pretty extreme example, though. It's more likely that the building would catch on fire or that I'd have a minor injury from, say, a slip-and-fall accident. (I'm a dispatcher, not an officer.)

well for example i was carrying a 57 inch tv down a flight of stairs with another employee and when we got to the bottome of the stairs my back went out and so did my shoulder.i have two slipped discs in my lower back two in upper and ive had shoulder surgery.so that was dangerous enough for me.and to add 1 month afeter i got hurt they FIRED ME.great company huh

Depends on where you work. In mine (scientific research), a lot of things - exposure to Xrays, carcinogens, teratogens and a whole lot more.
