NO, I got this job because I was laid off work. and I will tell you for the first time in my life I know how the slaves must have felt. I am over 50 and i thought that this would be a good job because I would be outside walking and getting exercise. Well I was wrong. What they do not tell you is that you have run yes run down the street and up stairs carrying your mail bag. A normal length of a route is 15 blocks. It does not matter how many houses are on the block a block is a block. After walking 15 bloakcs then you will be required to go and do more. This is one place where they really do not care for you as a person. You get NO time off. If you tell them you are tired will you had better not get tired, require sleep or get hunger.

It can be. You are working for the government and may receive very good pay and benefits. Also you get a lot of exercise in the fresh air. You have to be physically strong and not mind the elements of weather when they are not favorable. Some blue sky days...some cloudy and cool, some steaming hot, some may have ice and heavy snow, or thunder/lightning storms. Of course, that depends where you live in the United States.
Some of the letter carriers I talked to enjoy it a lot....but they said those couple days of the year when inclement weather strikes can be tough.

I think that, for an unskilled position, the pay is pretty good. Pension is really good. Job conditions can be iffy - there are rules about when you're allowed to go to the bathroom, how long it's supposed to take you to get your stuff ready in the morning, and when you should be back. Less walking routes now, so weather isn't as much of an issue.

Don't have a job like that. But I hear they get paid well. But for being out in all the bad weather, I don't think they get paid enough. Hope you tip your mail carrier.

depends on your personal goals/objectives/values
I am sure there are those who like it......
it would certainly not be for me....
I do not like a job that has parameters like when I have to work or for that matter if I have to work on a certain day (well not work exactly, just whether I am going to leave the house or have a home office day)
do not enjoy mixing work & physical activity (I like to do this at a fitness facility)

Yes, if it's bringing you satisfaction (within your value system) and you're productive. Why would you think otherwise?
