I have over 20 years in the legal field. I was hired (temp to perm) as a legal sec. After 60 days I would be considered for perm. position. The 60th day the lawyer cursed & screamed at me. A position was open same firm, different lawyers. I asked to be considered for the position. I was hired permanent with full benefits. In less than 2 months (on a Wed) I was told my last day would be Fri because I was not a match for that desk and then told me all of my good qualities & wished other employees were like me. Then they offered me an "over flow" job part time (until I find another job because they just can't boot me out). I am still working there 3-5 hrs per night same rate of pay. I was told as long as there is "over flow" work I can continue to work. I was also told they'd give me a good refer. to those who call and that I could give them any reason I want for me not working there, just let them know. BUT for unemployment purposes-fired is the reason. Can I get unemploymt? Opins pls

I started working in a new position in a new field--I held my last job for 6 years. I went from being in a 3 person office to a HUGE office building with cubicles and such. I have been here since 5/30/06--I am NOT adjusting well to having others look over my shoulder, being the 'new gal', and coming into a field that is so unlike my old one (I was an admin before, now I process payroll for the state). What the position was described as, and what it is is completely different. My boss has admitted that they are aware that I was pulled out of my environment (I applied for an admin position, they offered me this one instead). I will not be returning to my old job (though some days I want to run screaming to it). Any words of advice to help ease the transition? I've never worked in a true office setting with politics, 'games', cliques and watchers before and am not comfortable in it. I'm not a quitter, but I don't want to do this job anymore (EVER). HELP!

Do you need a business licence first? How do you get something like paypal? And how do you make it so people see your site when looking at other sites (ie yahoo) I would not be selling anything on this site besides memberships

How difficult is it to get into the job? What GCSE grades do you need? What A/AS levels should you do and what grades do you require?

Yes, I was just wondering because there's an ad in my local newspaper about some postal jobs and they said no experience!

I'm not sure how to ask this, so I'll tell you my story real quick. I was offered a job, but it's not the job I want, but my mom and b/f told me to take it, so I'll have a job if the other places don't come through. I have several other interviews lined up, and potentially another offer. I didn't want to accept this job and then quit before I even started working. My mom told me to look out for #1, which is me, and not worry about feeling bad for this place, but I would feel terrible if I was offered another position somewhere else, that was what I wanted, and then quit this place.....does that make sense? Its kinda confusing I think. But I was just wondering what would you do? and have you ever done it before?

We the human beings have different qualities in terms of physical strength, beauty, mental power, and sizes etc. However we are all human beings. Why should not we have almost equal wages? Why we allow exploiting our unfortunate brothers and sisters who were less physical strength or brain? Educated or uneducated or strong or weak all of they have been used their full energy of their job but they got different wages. So what do you think?

Sorry for my poor English.

in college, i have taken subjects relevant to the medical field, so i do apologize for my lack of knowledge when it comes to: business, computers etc.

however, i am still thinking of taking a different path. anybody here work with computers? what are the job titles and what do they do? and how is the market for that job description? is it a routine? like a 9-to-5 kind of office job? any information would be nice.

I have been giving it my best shot for over a year, but it still hasn't grown on me. I hate it. I am scared to death to let go though, because I'm afraid I won't be able to find anything else, since there isn't much work around these parts. I don't have that much money in the bank! On the other hand, I really want to choose for me. Any advice?

I work in the business office of a non profit organization. I manage payroll, deposits, A/P and A/R, banking, website coordinator, work with board members to ensure completion of projects. The President of the Board is volunteering as Business Manager, so I don't want to take that title. They want me to name my title!

I do not have a degree for bookkepping or accounting. (The position I am looking at getting is more along the line of work I have done for 10 years...so that is why I want it!)

so I've been reading this book by Ken Blanchard called Whale Done! and in one part he talks about motivation... and it got me to thinking what motivates people to do a good job (or a better job) at work? For me, more money would be great... my job really does
not pay all that well and while I do a good job, I would do a better job for more money... so.. how about ya'll? What motivates you?

thanks for any and all responses........

I have a bachelor's degree. I graduated Summa *** Laude. I won a national award for my writing. I stayed with the same employer for 9 years before, during, and after I finished college at age 27. I present myself well: I'm attractive, I dress neatly, and I'm well spoken. I feel like I've applied to a zillion jobs, and I can't even get an interview anywhere.

I'm living in a new city, so I don't know anyone for "networking" purposes. How do I get my foot in the door to a job in my field?

Currently I am working through a temp agency, but a job has come up in my field. I have an interview at a Genetics Lab this week and I am wondering how much should I tell the people I currently work with. Should I wait until I know I have the job, just inform them I have an interview. How does this work? I mean it is a temporary job and I'm always the last to know anything here, even though I do most of the work.
