Currently I am working through a temp agency, but a job has come up in my field. I have an interview at a Genetics Lab this week and I am wondering how much should I tell the people I currently work with. Should I wait until I know I have the job, just inform them I have an interview. How does this work? I mean it is a temporary job and I'm always the last to know anything here, even though I do most of the work.

There is very little ethics in business anymore. NO!!! You should not tell them anything until you have been offered employment. KEEP QUIET! Many companies will immediately release you when they find you are looking. You said it yourself, you are a temp. Because you obviously have ethics, you should give them notice after you secure your new job. If your temp company likes you enough, they will offer you full time employment and a big raise then you can decide. Also add at least $3.00 an hour to your salary if the new company asks what you earn because the temp agency is taking at least that much. Good luck!

Wait until you get the job, after you get the job, call the temp agency and tell them that you will not be returning. Good Blessings!!

You don't tell them a thing until the other company offers you a job and you accept it. They will just be upset with you for looking. TRUST ME! I learned the hard way. Even if they pretend to be happy for you and wish you luck, they DO NOT mean it. Just please, please stay quiet!

Just tell them that you are looking for a full time position, and that if an opening happen to opens up, you are willing to take it.
