I work in a technical field and interviews can grind on for hours. About as much fun as tooth extraction without anesthetic. If I start the inquiry process with the HR recruiter person she/he will sell me on how wonderful everything is and try to get me in for an interview proper. How best to find out if a company is worth giving them 4-5 hours or stress and sweat?

I have a B.S. in Business Administration and bad credit. And for those who think credit is not a factor for employment think again. The first thing a company does is a credit check, then background and references. I want to work anywhere over seas, and am willing to stay there for up to five years before returning for any reason. I am partial to Japan, Brazil, or Norway. I am wanting any job that will give me good expierience, but how can I if I cant even get my foot in the door? If you can help PLEASE help!

I'm sorry to sound like such a couch potato, no drive having bum, but I'm tired of working. BUT I DO LIKE MONEY, AND CLOTHES, AND FOOD, AND MY APARTMENT, AND HEAT AND ELECTRICITY. :) Do you think you'll ever save enough money so that one day you'll retire well off? That's if you're still able to enjoy it? (Looks like I'm working in the am again.)

I recently got a job through a temp agency. At this job, part of my duties includes some accounting, in which I get the bill from the temp agency. So I now know not only how much I make, but how much the agency is getting on top of that. What is fair for a temp agency to make on top of my hourly pay?

where are some places you could work as an accountant? i am looking for more of a relaxed place with a smart casual dress code, not a fast-paced place where you have to wear a suit every day. if possible, give names of companies. working at home is not an option.

I can transfer my office skills. I was wondering what would be the most effective manner in walking office to office one day and dropping off my resumes.. is there a good technique that actually would get hiring managers to admire one's courage to do such a thing? I've tried doing this once when I was a recent college grad, but I never received a call back for an interview. Basically, I, dressed up in a suit, walked from office to office and provided receptionists my resume.

It's a really trying time, financially, as I have a steady stream of bills sent my way, and having a tougher time paying them. So, the sooner I can land work, the better.

I recently staring having a problem with my employer. I have been puttin in extra hours for about the last month, about 30 extra hours a check. We started a job about 1 and a half hours away from town and my emploryer doesnt want to pay me for the ride there. Normally I would just tough it out, but I have recently had a baby with my wife and my time is needed elsewhere if i'm not being paid. I told my boss I am getting paid for the drive or i'm quitting, and he kinda pissed around about answering me but finnaly just stpped complaining and excepted it, or so i thought. My last two checks have been short on hours, and when i requested my clock times i noticed they have been altered. With no proof myself of whats going on, but i know its true. What should, or can i do?
