I can transfer my office skills. I was wondering what would be the most effective manner in walking office to office one day and dropping off my resumes.. is there a good technique that actually would get hiring managers to admire one's courage to do such a thing? I've tried doing this once when I was a recent college grad, but I never received a call back for an interview. Basically, I, dressed up in a suit, walked from office to office and provided receptionists my resume.

It's a really trying time, financially, as I have a steady stream of bills sent my way, and having a tougher time paying them. So, the sooner I can land work, the better.

The best thing to do is to find an employment agency right away -- or several. You don't have to sign an agreement that you will only work with/for one, so put your name in to as many as possible, and see if they can't keep you busy temping until they get you a permanent job.

They get paid a fee from the company that hires you, so you don't have to pay them, but temping is a good way to go for extra money relatively quickly, and make sure you call them every day to see what's available.

Call law firms and ask if they are looking for floaters. I did this in my last semester of undergrad. I opened the phone book and kept calling until someone said "We have someone going out on maternity leave." It worked perfectly for me, because I was able to come in after class, and the job lasted until graduation.

Sign up with a few temp agencies, and call them every day to let them know you are available. That will get your foot in the door. I did this after graduating. I got a secretarial job at a chemical company. A few months after my assignment was over, they hired me as an engineer.

Good luck!
