I have been working within the fashion retail industry with various fast growing companies for the last 6 years. However, I have now returned to study and completed my College law, business and management studies and now studying a degree. Are there any fast tracks to becoming a fashion buyer. Being a geek is depressing me!!!!!

It seems that a company would benefit from an intelligent employee with a solid work history, who has proven knowledge and experience. A college graduate may have less experience, solely book knowledge, and yet will be a prime candidate in the eyes of an employer. Not only will they be considered first, but if both the graduate and the non-graduate were hired, chances are the grad will have a higher salary despite being less valuable upon entry to the company. I understand this is a generalization and there are exceptions. Please assume that this situation has arisen and has been proven repeatedly.

Took a saliva drug test at Kroger, where you hold the thing in between your cheek and gum for a few minutes. Just realized that I used Listerine minutes before. Will this make me fail?

Not much else to say. Thinking about leaving the "lawyering" business. Just can't decide if I'd rather buy a parrot and a funky gun or some black pajamas and nunchucks . . . help me out.

My lesson is that smug self-satisfaction goes far on Yahoo! Answers...

"Even though I'm a successful entrepreneur, I know I always have more to learn."

Yes, sir, you do...

Or I guess I'm guilty of 'insulting other participants', am I?

I'm debating toward an "ol faithful" government job or a career as a financial planner. I'm graduating with a degree in financial planning in less than a year. I've always been interested in helping people with their finances. I'm a little worried about how difficult it will be to acquire new clients. I'm not agressive and don't like bothering people. Also, what happens if the country goes in a recession while I'm trying to start out. I'm planning on living/working around Grand Rapids, Michigan or a close city that is about half the size.

I've heard good and bad things about different firms, what do you think?

I know that only I can decide which to do, but I would like some input from some current financial planners. Thanks!

i was on a trial for my part-time job at a restaurant/cafe. today was the first trial. at the end of the day i only got paid 20 dollars when i was supposed to get paid 8 dollars an hour.i worked 7 hours straight with no breaks. so i shouldve had 56 dollars. he then told me that he wants me to work on sunday and from 12pm to 9pm. i then declined and made an excuse saying that a flight agency gave me a call and offered me a place which would help pursue my career. did i do the right thing?

I m an Architect, age 28 & have been working in this company for 2 years now. From the 1st day I joined this company I already knew that it was going to bankrupt. But I stayed on to finish what I started. The company that I am working for is a construction company. As you know the payment is normally not very good. Sometimes the sub contractors will try to cheat the main contactors money. Now this company still owes other contractors from previous projects and is making the company more unstable. I completed my job last year when we hand over the 4.6 million project. Now I still see no improvement in the company but the dept’s are getting more and the worker are getting less. The only reason that I am still staying is because the bosses really trust me and support me. I feel much respected in this company and the pay is goods also.
Last month they started to retrench people I am worried that the next will be me. It seems that the older collogues are being retrench. 4 people from the administrative, design and marketing depart. What worries me is that when I came in this company there were 28 people as a team. Now there are only 6 people left and most of them have worked longer than me and there pay is also less than mine. This year we had shift to a smaller office their reason was that the location was not suitable. Should I leave first or stay and see what happens?
