I think you're tryin to tell a little fib there...
Tell him the truth.
You got all caught up making out with your dog and then ran out of toilet paper in the confessional, then, got lost, going in circles, trying to use the revolving door.
Miss Thing, you SO need to lay off the scotch and valium.
SNAP!

It will depend. Do you always tell your boss the truth or do you embellish your stories? Does your boss normally believe you? Are you always late and this is just an excuse? If it's the truth and the issue comes up, apologize and explain why you were detained (without whining or getting overly dramatic). If your boss is a good person and you have a valid problem and you aren't constantly late, your boss will likely believe you. But...this is just my opinion.

Nope. But depending on your impression, he will request you to tell him the truth.
Actually, If we have got a good boss, we might never need ti lie on anything. A good boss trusts his employees and good employees believe in their boss. Thats a basic formula for creating a good business. Good relations between employees and boss are always good.

Honestly I don't think so, I believe your boss would think there's something very wrong with you. It may get a good laugh from the boss but definitely wont believe you.

That's an original excuse!! Is it true? As long as you are always truthful, you won't ever have to worry about your boss believing you. :)

If you are never late and this is the only day you got late , then yes he will beleive.
if you are always or often late, than this will be termed as the biggest lame excuse.
