"To pursue educational goals." "To explore a new challenge in my career." "I was offered a substantial raise/retirement package/benefits/better hours." Find a way to tell the truth as to why you left. If your boss was a jerk, you don't have to say that he was a jerk, but you can find a way to be creative! Good luck!

Why effort satisfying anyone in an exit interview? Exit interviews are actually part of the retention strategy, designed to find out what has moved the employee to leave the company. They aren't looking for a witty answer from you, Mr. Sagit - just an honest one.

If you are leaving because of a better offer, say that you were not satisfied with your current level of pay. If it's something to do with the office administration, politics, grouchy colleagues, offensive remarks or something else, point it out.

Your comments can only help them improve their system.

Always depends on what happened...if you were fired and you got another job right away, well you transitioned for a better challenge.

If you quit because you hated it, then you can always say I moved on because I didn't like the direction the company was headed in...as a customer service professional, I have transitioned many times and into different industries...and my response is that I am multi-talented, and made a decision to diversify my skills...Whether it's true or not, you must make lemonade out of lemons.

Honesty is always the best and first answer. HR will ck your references and if your story doesn't match the story they get from you employer alarm bells will go off in the recruiters mind and you won't be hired. With that in mind, answers as closesly as you can to the truth.

For example, if you were fired for performance, you might say that the job wasn't right for you, so you didn't do your best work. when you realied that, you discussed with the boss and left. This job will allow you to do your best work.
