I have a Master's degree, but have been out of work for nearly 2 years (funding cuts to programs). I've tried networking, am on several employment sites (careebuilders.com, monster.com, etc), and make a minimum of a dozen approaches (sending resumes, talking in-person or by phone) each week in my job-search. I feel I should list all of my education and employment histories (you sign on the application saying you've truthfully disclosed everything you've written), but employers tell me (perhaps rightly so) that they fear giving me a chance because I am overqualified and overeducated. They don't want toinvest in me accepting an "interim solution", only to leave if a better offer (finally) comes along. I have applied for positions far out of my field (even pooper scooper, for heaven's sake!), and have applied for jobs that would require 2 1/2 hours each way commute, but to no avail. I use my university resources, have great references and resume-how can I get work?

I am afraid that my coworkers and management team are not the sharpest. I could take a temp job or babysit in the meantime. I don't think I would be very happy at the job but I would learn a lot as it is a new field and they offer free training.

I work with the owner of a fairly large company near my hometown. I am only 18 years old but my career is very important to me. My boss (company owner) wants me to replace him and his day to day duties and take over his job (which I have no problem with). I try to show initiative and I always get things done when I am supposed to and I think I am a very good employee. My only issue is that since I am a female and so young, a lot of the employees are older men who don't want to listen to me. I feel like they think they can tell me what to do because I am young and a female. My boss tells me I need to start being tougher and telling people what to do - but I'm not quite sure how to demand their respect and not be bitchy. How do I get these people to listen to me without coming across bitchy and impress my boss with my ability to handle these situations?

What kind of steps do I take in setting up an interview with an athlete from any of the three main professional team sports? (baseball, football, basketball)
I've done interviews with college athletes, but I need an idea how to get these. I write for a newspaper, and I'm trying to set some more interviews up.

Here's the situation...I just started a new job in a production plant..I have never worked in production; so it is very new to me. I was chosen to learn about running a huge oven that is like bigger than my house. I am a little nervous about it. The girl who is teaching me has so far this week chastized me for coming in five minutes after her on Monday and Tuesday(this was the time my supervisor told me to be there), criticized me for various things that I have done incorrectly but didn't know any different. She is not a supervisor or anything. She has done this type of work before and is very quick. I talked to my supervisor about it twice yesterday. The second time I almost just walked out because I just don't think I have to take that critical behavior. The supervisor had a meeting with all of us and told us to stop but kept looking at me. I did not go to work today; I just feel like crap about it all and it wasn't my fault. Would you go back?

I am in Florida - to get a job here -- you almost HAVE to go through a temp-to-hire/staffing agency. It's horrible. I have this job by dropping a resume off and they hired me after an interview and THEN sent me to sign up with their staffing agency. I have to be with them for 8 weeks - every employee here had to do the same thing. Prev. employer told me they do this now so they don't have to pay out big ads in the paper and almost every industry is this way. Is it that way where you are? Why can't you just go try to get a job and get hired at that job? You sometimes have to wait a LONG period of time before any benefits kick in this way and your check comes from the agency - not the employer.
