my favorite close is, Other than food, clothing and shelter what else are you spending your money on that is more important than protecting you and your family?

One approach is to see more people, another is to sell larger policies. Finding a better quality of prospect is a good start. Why are people wanting or, more importantly needing, what you are selling? Go over the underwriting guidelines to see where the lines are, and get some ideas about the types of problems that can happen--it will be useful in approaching the young and healthy, that they might not always be that way.
