I really want to work in Health Care. I hope to get my bachelor's degree in Policy Analysis and Management with course concentration in health, then go on to work in health care management. Or maybe i'll go into health policy. But I'm sure that I want to get an MBA in health care too. So if anyone has any advice or stories to share, please do so!

Where I work, no matter WHAT your review date, the raise does NOT go into effect until the last day of the year. My anni was Feb 2nd which entitles me to a raise, however I have to wait until this coming January to see it.

By this pattern, you'll see that the work I'm currently doing (although it will be reviewed on Feb 2, 2007) will not be compensated until Jan 2008! That's a two-year gap!

My goal is to change the policy by offering suggestions. So, what does your employer do?

I currently live on disability compensation and wonder whether my life experience would improve if I were to return to the university with the intention of working in the software engineering field from the age of 55 to 75. I am a convicted felon (a drug offense) and am schizophrenic. I have two degrees but very little professional experience. My income is between $25,000 and $30,000. I live comfortably alone in an apartment complex and enjoy learning about computers. Should I be content with my disability compensation and pursue computer science as a hobby or plunge in, go back to school, reenter the world of work, and pursue a profession?

I'm 29 years old, and I have a master's degree in English and a bachelor's degree in psychology. I was unemployed for eight months due to downsizing. I've taught at two local community colleges as an adjunct - basically, that translates to really poor pay (about $1000/month for a full load and NO benefits). I've worked in addiction recovery part time for five years. During my unemployed period, I sold vacuums (!), worked for various temp. agencies for pennies, sold life insurance for about two days, and various other jobs that I wasn't meant for. I have a ton of skills and work well with all kinds of people. Right now I'm working in the mental health field and my company is downsizing. If I have to look for another job, I'll rip my hair out. Almost all of the interviewers told me that I was overqualified-but without a job, I can't live. What to do????
