To be a professional hip hop dancer and be successful at it you have to be damn good. It's like a kid who wants to be a basketball player when he grows up...the odds are quite slim aren't they? You can become a teacher, then start a hip hop dance club. Or after you have something that can support you pursue your passion.

You can't just go into teaching because you "love kids". That's lame. Us, teachers, do a lot more than just teach kids. Parents can be incredibly hard to deal with, you plan homework, etc. During the school year, I rarely have my weekends completely off. It's my vacation and I'm at meetings for different things. To become a teacher you have to have a passion for it too and know that most of the time your work will go un-noticed or unappreciated.

Get your thoughts together, go into something that can support you first, then pursue your real passion or dream. If it can't be done find a way to work the two together. There are some fine arts schools around the US that you may want to look into. There's also PE where you can teach dance or even have a club.

Good luck!

You should always follow your heart. If dancing is your passion, then you should pursue a career teaching dance. You should go to college and major in dance so that you will have a degree to back you up.

I'm not sure exactly what other subjects of teaching you were considering but you may want to brush up on your spelling and writing skills before trying to become an english major. (I don't mean that as an insult, but rather a reality check.)

No matter what path you choose for your career, I sincerely hope that you enjoy it with all your heart and that you enlighten the lives of others. Music and dance are truly expressions of the soul, so dance like no one's watching.

Be a teacher. You can still teach when you're 50, you know, and probably at an even *better* salary.
