Hey, I am 15 years old, and live in San Jose, Ca. Not only do i want, but I need a job to support my activities. I know I am old enough to work in an actual establishment at this age, and recieve a consistant income (not expecting to much.) But I really want to know places that ACTUALLY hire teens my age.

I am a honor roll student and an activist in my community, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks!

I work as an engineer, I’m wondering how much verbal abuse, professional disrespect, and belittlement is legal in the United States?

I am a hard worker with a great work ethic, and work well with everyone. I work an average of 9 hrs a day, sometimes much more, and have always tried to please my manager but with little success. He is a former co-worker/peer with no people skills, recently promoted as manager for my discipline via his experience within the last year.

He micromanages my every move, treats me like a slacker, is a fault finder, and belittles me nearly, but not every, day. When he does this I always remain calm, professional, and maintain my composure, even when he yells at the top of his lungs at me. I always swallow my pride, because I love my work and have respect for my paycheck.

He will not ever let me explain my side of things. He is the type that seeks to be understood before he seeks to understand.

Anybody know what I can do without quitting?

I was an OTR driver for this company for over 8 years, as well as a driver trainer. Never an accident, moving violation, and very rarely a freight claim. Just seems quite strange to be fired for being unhappy at your job.

I love working with lots of different people, problem solving and variety of task. Would advertising (art direction or creative director, even advertising coordinator) be a good fit for me? Anyone in this field with some advice? And does a great portfolio beat someone who looks good on paper?

I am currently a product manager at a growing start-up software company which may have some potential to become acquired or public in 2-4 years.

I have an offer to become a director at this company but also have an offer to be a product manager at an established, big Internet company in a product manager position.

I will get broader experience at the big Internet company but staying at my current company will give me great managerial experience.

What should I do?

I just got accepted into graduate school to become an early childhood/ special education teacher and am looking for a job as a teacher's assistant, but I am worried that the pay may be too low to support my necessary bills. My current job in internet advertising pays well I but because it will interfere with classes I really want to quit and get some real experience in this new field until I graduate in 2 years. Is anyone living (or has recently lived) in the New York City area (NJ commute) on a salary under $25,000 per year gross (not net) as a teacher's asst. or other career? How? My cost of living minus luxury expenses is $1289 per month. And I live in NJ by myself (don't want a roommate). Or is there some kind of living grant for people like me in this situation (and no "welfare" is not what I mean). Thanks!

I'm a professional musician. I was hired to play 5 nights a week at a swanky Palm Beach restaurant (Deco). The owner seemed very nice. After working there for 2 weeks he gave me a check made out to cash (which at first I didn't realize). I went to cash it and the bank told me there were insufficient funds. I went to the owner who said it was a mistake and I should try again in a couple of days and everything would be fine. I don't know why. maybe I'm an idiot but I believed him and kept working there. One night Governor Bush even came in. To make a long story short I worked there for a month and haven't been paid a dime. He owes me $2000. I looked into small claims court and it costs $200 to file and my friend told me it's hard to collect. Not only did I not get paid but I spent a couple of hundred on gas and turned down other jobs. Am I just screwed?
