So you are getting paid under the table?
You are basically their slave, you have to do what they say and although you get paid minmum wage you are being screwed. I say quit! You have rights as a worker.

It depends on what your goals are. Is your goal to live payday to payday for very little money and watch TV and cute boys all day? Or is it to do something you really enjoy and look forward to while making enough money to feel secure and comfortable? If its the first, then you're in the right place. If its the second, you need to figure out what makes you happy, what do you enjoy doing and then look for opportunities to do that. If its something you want to do but you just don't feel as though you know enough about it, you may have to put some time into reading up on the thing and if you go for an interview with a company for a job you really want, do a little research on the company so you can sound intelligent and passionate about it and they will be more likely to hire you.
People have said don't quit until you have a new job. I disagree. Nothing is a better motivator to get you off your butt than necessity. Otherwise you could easily waste more time and make more excuses while staying where you are. Sure, start the process before you quit, but don't let finding another job be the catalyst for quitting. Take control of your life.
Seriously, life is way too short to spend a third of it doing a job you don't like, and living payday to payday is no way to get out of the rat race and become financially free.

Cute boys are everywhere, so no need to keep a bad job for that reason. Watching daytime TV isn't all that great, since the best programs are on at night, and after all, it is all just entertainment. If you get paid in cash, you aren't building up your social security quarters, or paying into the system. I would find myself a better job, then give two weeks notice.

Surveying the pros and cons. . . It would be in your best interest to find another job. First suggestion (since you dont have a set schedule) is to inform your manager (or whoever), that you will be out of town for a few days. (If you think of it logically, all you have to do is travel to the next nearest town/city---and then you have indeed told them the truth) On those few days off, Start looking for other employment!!
There are other establishments out there to work in.
The other thing you could do is ask them to promote you to manager and then you can get the business working right.

The job is not the problem- you get what you settle for. Instead of watching tv all day, take the time to do some soul-searching about what you WANT to do (plenty of good books out there to guide you), and about your priorities. Use the money you earn now to help you get there. No-one else can answer this question for you!

Sounds like a great opportunity to assume responsibility and whip the place into shape. The customers might like AC, and if you can make positive changes you may find yourself with a great reference for your next job. "when the going gets tough the simpletons cut and run but the tough make positive changes or cut and run after being shown the change is not welcome. The decision is yours but being able to improve a bad situation and learning from it will serve you better than a grass is greener attitude in my opinion.

Life is too short. If you are able bodied get yourself in school and do something that makes you feel accomplished and proud. Get out! Put some enrichment into your life. You sound totally board. I'm disabled and I'm here to tell you there isn't ____ on TV in the daytime; and now that it's summer there isn't crap on TV at night either. I'm working on a new future.

First do you have the education to get a better job...if not stick with what you got until you can find better. No need to leave if you read your local classified and you can't find at least 5 or more jobs were your education and skill level is what that particular company is looking for...just my advice!
