I would expect the correction to come by your next paycheck. If not, you may want to ask your local Department of Labor and Industries.

If the employer underpaid you and you had direct payments coming your bank account eg rent and your balance fell below zero and got hit with a bank fee. You can ask your employer to pay that. It is their error.
As soon as the employer is made aware, they should pay within the next 24hrs. By no means do you have to wait until next pay. If they tell you that you have to wait til next pay, charge them interest you would earn on that if it were in your bank account. It is your entitlement and they are not living up to their end of the bargain.

Usually the next pay after your employer has been made aware of the error. If you no longer work for that employer they have 28 days (has been the law) from the date you left to pay what is due to you. (that's in Australia tho) But, be aware that if you have an EBA or a contract these laws appear to be changing every five minutes.

Alot depends on the policies of the company. I have requested corrections to be made immediately and an additional check to be cut. This way I don't have to wait until the next pay day. Alot of companies will do this expecially if it was their mistake in payroll. I would ask for some assistance from your manager to get this done.
