Just from your question alone I sense you are a whyner. Not being cruel here but you seem to expect someone to drop a job on your lap when there are probably 10-20 people or more Competeing for it. Getting a job is competition.
It's like saying " why won't any body do my laundry ?"
Just need some practice. If you want a job real bad, you'll just take it at the interview.Being passive you will always end up with nothing. Be-pro-active. Lunge forward. It's actually a lot of fun if you pretend it's a game and put on your game face. When ypou get the job, then relax.

Haven't met you so I don't know.....however If you follow these tips I know you will start getting job offers..
General Tips
•Before your interview, make sure you find out everything you can about the company (Look at their website and request promotional literature)
•Re-read your application and think through your university career, prior work experience and achievements. Place yourself in the interviewer’s shoes and taking account of the company’s job spec, try to predict the questions your interviewers might ask you.
•Try and anticipate the general questions which will be asked and prepare some questions to ask the interviewer. Remember you need to find out whether this company can offer you the career you are looking for!
•To do well at the interview you will need to convince your interviewer that you are technically qualified, motivated and that you will fit well within the company’s organisational structure and team.
•You should dress smartly for the interview.
•You should leave home earlier than you need to – you may be delayed by traffic or for other reasons.
•Be polite to all employees of the company. At the interview you must be POSITIVE about yourself and your abilities and make sure you do not waffle.

There is a lot of competition out there. What worked for me when I first came to the US was going to an agency voluntarily (those places where they force people on Welfare to go) and they prepare you for a job. Is a government program and it is free.
First they give you an exam to see what are you best qualified for. Second, they prepare your resume and prepare you for interviews (what to say, how to answer, the best way to present your skills). Third they offer training and if you are interested in any of the programs you do the training, if not you don't have to. Fourth they give you resources, computers to search for jobs, fax to receive and send your resume and a phone line to follow-up with possible employers after an interview (they teach you how and when to do this) Fifth, they get you job interviews, help with advise on how to dress and present yourself and encourage you to go on. Don't feel bad if at first you don't succeed, learn from an interview that has gone wrong and move on... I got my first job with an agency with a very low salary and now I am the supervisor of my department, but it did not happen overnight, it takes time, effort and patience, but you can do it, go for it and don't listen to people that try to discourage you, we don't even know if they are successful.

as a boss of a small company i am currently looking for a new recruit. I have 150 applications for one post. at least half of these have more qualifications than i asked for and most have far more experience than i asked for. ( i asked for 5 gcse and 1 year experience prefered but not essential) the 10 i shortlisted all have degrees, 3 have masters and all have a minimum of 5 years experince. truth is it's an employers market and we can pick and choose. anyone with the bare minimum requirement will simply find his application in the bin. another answserer says its because he's black and thats probably true too. I have had problems with coloured staff trying to play the race card in the past so now i just throw their applications in the waste bin. also a lot of them don't have good english which puts alot of employers off( I had three who spelt london as londen despite living there all there lives). good luck in your search and remember its not your fault, you can only APPLY for a job.
