Tattoos - April 2007

Do you mind showing your tattoo & personal experience? (pain/regrets/cost/infection/etc)?

I was just curious and was looking for some input for when/if I ever get a tat. Thanks in advance!

This isn't a question but I just had to say that I've been perusing the tattoo section and there are an awful lot of people answering tattoo questions who are obviously opposed to tattoos. First of all... if you are against them then you probably don't have one, so you probably shouldn't be giving advice on getting them. Second... you don't like them... we get it... That doesn't mean you have to degrade those of us who have them. Third... we've heard the whole "picture yourself old and fat" a million times. You honestly think we haven't thought about later ramifications? Maybe, just maybe, the things we are getting permanently etched onto our bodies are important enough to us that we won't mind them sagging over the years. Tattooing is an art. It's not for everyone. But those of us who appreciate it and enjoy it would really like it if haters would just leave us alone. Nothing you do or say will change our minds.

I am getting my first tattoo soon...and I have no idea where to get it. I am a plus size gal...so where most girls would get their tattoos, it would not be flattering on me. Any ideas on where I could put it?

I read that tattoos burn afterward. But what makes it burn? About how long does the tattoo hurt after you have it done. I've heard stuff from 2 days to a month. Is it a good idea to take a week off from work when I have a tattoo done? In my job I answer phones, look up customer accounts, and do alot of typing. How would that affect the tattoo and the pain that goes along with it?

I know the whole thing about Leviticus. But I don't believe that applies to us today, plus they were talking about the dead and tattoos of pagan gods.

I am really confused about this.

If the body is the temple of God, we can decorate it, right? They decorated the temples.

But, is a tattoo worldly? Will it hurt my witness to others?

Somebody help me Please!! I got a tattoo on March 20th. I used the Bacitracin for the first few days as directed and then switched to lotion w/ no fragrance. It itched so badly with the first lotion, which was lubriderm or something, I switched to Vaseline Intensive Care w/out fragrance, after a couple days of that, it itched so badly that I couldn't sleep at night. I switched to Cocoa Butter Formula w/ Vitamin E w/out fragrance of course, and that hasn't done a thing to help. Yesterday I looked at it, and it was red, swollen & raised, and it itches so badly that it feels like something is crawling on my skin. It's sensitive & sorefor jeans or anything to touch it. I ceased using the lotion. Washed it off yesterday and haven't put any on it since. But, it's so dry. It itches SO BADLY, and I don't know what to do. There is no red ink at all. Just black and a hint of white for the shadow of the letters I think. It's looking kind of faded to me, but it is scabby and dry looking

This is most likely a very stupid question, but it would be awesome if this was really true. I'm wondering if they make pillows for people with piercings in their ears because I got my industrial done about three months ago, and I still can't sleep on the side it was done, not so much because of pain, but becuase it's not good to put all that pressure on it. Also, I swear I've heard that these types of pillows exist. Sorry if this is really stupid, but I just want to know. Thanks!

I really want one (actually two). I've had the designs forever but I'm affraid I will regret getting them. I did so many things in my life that are irreversible....and that's not a good feeling. Tats are PERMANENT....well, removing them is expensive, painful and leaves a scar. I finally decided not to get them, but the thought is still there in my head :).

Is it true that if you get a tatoo on your lower back, that you can never have an epideral for labor in the future? I am thinking about getting a tatoo on my lower back, but I heard that if you do then ypu cannot recieve an epideral when in labor in the future.

I have a solid black tribal type dragon tattoo. I is in severe need of a touch up and I while I am doing it, I was considering changing it from tribal to a more realistic looking dragon. Can white be added on top of the black to creat lines and shadowing?

Hey guys! Ok, I want to get a memorial tattoo for my Dad because he passed away when I was 14. I already have the design all drawn out and want to put it on my left/right shoulder blade.

My concern is the second last time I went and got a needle I passed out. I have NEVER passed out before due to needles.... Is this a sign that a tattoo would be a horrible idea?

I just got a tattoo last week of a compass on my wrist.....and its scabbed over but bits are coming off. Is that ok? And I'm getting very tempted to peel the excess scabs off. They look like they are ready to come off and its getting itchy. Can I do it? If I do, what will it look like afterwards?

what kind of reactions do you most often get when your arms show, with any sleeve? Personally i think they are beautiful on woman or guy for that matter. but i would think it would be more visible and you would get diffrent reactions. At the moment i have the back of my right calf covered and will have a full back piece done. I really want to get something more than that tho on my left arm. So feed back would be wonderful!

P.S. I don't need to hear, "don't do it, it will look horrible when your 60." I know this, but i say you will look horrible when your 60 with or with out the ink, so why not! thanx
