If I had a picture I would post...but tattos are different and personal experiences for everyone.
Some get it out of rebellion, others just because they like the art work, and others to assist perhaps with a difficult time in their life...to help them mourn or celebrate.
One thing I always recommend to anyone asking about tattoos, always do your research! Never rush into getting a tattoo just because everyone thinks they are cool or to get back at your parents for not letting you do things, you will regret it.
Take the time to research into the type of tattoo, size, design, colour and location that you would like the tattoo. Then research the local tattoo parlours, visit them, ask to see their health certificate, how their tools are sterilized, and also ask people you know who have tattoos for references, perhaps many have had a great experience with the same artist. And even once you have done all that, think it through only because it is permanent and once you've done it, it will always be there!
I have regreted my choice to get the one I did merely because I wasn't ready for it, I did it because all my friends were going before me, but I wound up going alone (moral support is beneficial I find) and while I know have accepted my tattoo choice, should I ever get another I will think it through more and be more selective in the image. And always remember, tattoos aren't cheap!

I never mind showing my tattoo. It's on my right shoulder but I put it inwards a bit so I can choose to wear a shirt to cover it, or not!
I had a wonderful experience, and I will go back there if I get another. It felt like a warm back scratch, and was so soothing I almost fell asleep! I did my research ahead of time, and chose a well recommended place with many well known artists.
I chose my design based on my nationality, so it is something that will never change. (Shamrocks for Irish) I also got it on the night of my 18th birthday, so the event itself was important to me. I wanted to make sure it wasn't an event I would regret.
It cost about $100 and was worth every penny. It looks great for the price, which is very affordable!
I had no infection or excessive scabbing, just very itchy!
I have never/will never regret my tattoo. I love it and the meaning it has to me. Good luck on deciding on getting a tattoo, and enjoy the experience!

i have had so many tattoo experiences there is no way i can possibly share them all but here's the gyst of it:
*in my opinion all tattoos are painful. all of the ones i have ever had have been pretty painful but it's not something that is so painful that i'd never do it again. the pain is temporary and the beauty is forever right?
*the only thing i have ever regretted about tattoos is that early on i didn't know that some artists were not good at what they do and i happened to get tattooed there! i have since gotten my less than desireable tattoos covered up and now work with a custom tattoo artist who makes me very happy.
*tattoos can be cheap or very expensive. i would say that mine are priced in the mid range. you definitely pay for quality so never shop around for price or haggle over price. artists are paid for how talented they are. in 2006 i spent about $1300 on tattoos. (i went a little tattoo crazy!)
*i have never had any kind of infection or any problems from being tattooed. i always follow the directions and take care of my tattoo properly. it's a wound and you have to treat it as such, keep it clean and do what the artist tells you to do.
here is a link to my tattoos on ratemyink.com two are my husbands but they are labeled as such.

i hope that helps!

I do like showing my tattoo, although I don't show it very much due to the place it is in.
I had my tattoo done on September, last year, as a birthday present, and some mourning I am going through. Mine was not fashion, in fact, I know a lot of people don't like it since it is not very delicate or femenine, nor is it something everyone knows or has. But it has a meaning to me, it's more of a reminder, something I have to remember for the rest of my life. I've had no regrets so far, but then again, I gave it a lot of thought.
My tattoo artist was recommended by my brother and sister, and I even got a discount because my brother used to advertise him on his magazine. But don't haggle over price, it is your body at stake.
I'm gonna be honest about piercings and tats: Everyone who says it doesn't hurt is lying. Take a needle and stick it into your skin. It hurts, right? ALL tattoos and piercings hurt, but people have different levels of pain toleration. I did suffer quite a bit there, I confessed crimes committed before I was born, but all in all it was not bad, because it hurts only as the tattoo is being made, and that's it. As someone posted above, the pain is temporary, the beauty is forever. I would definetly do it again. Very soon.
No infections or difficulties. Once you choose your tattoo artist, which you should do because he is good at what he does and is experienced, remember, he knows what he is doing. He might give you instructions which are different from other tattoo artists. Just do what he says, don't listen to anyone who says it's wrong because it's different from what he/she did. Just trust your tattoo artists, and don't use different methods at once. Just keep it clean, don't touch it, don't scratch it, follow the instructions and you'll be fine.
As for the cost, mine was the equivalentof $50 US, but prices are very different in Mexico, so I am afraid I can't help you on that one.

I've never had problems with jobs and having mods and none of my friends have had issues either and a good amount of them are med students, lawyers, engineers and computer geeks I have two jobs, one being a piercer and obviously no one cares there. But my other job is to be an office assistant for a marketing company and no one there minds that I look a little different. I make a combined $35,000. My man works at a computer programmer making $120,000+ a year and has visible tattoos on his arms and a piercing (a labret) and no one has ever said anything to him. I think there are a handful of people who are just lucky. Many of my friends have very good jobs and all they have to do it keep most mods covered but have equal and fair opportunities. I'm 20, he's 26, both have completed some college (him scheduled to get a few degrees by winter), we live in southeast Michigan

My tattoo is a side portrait of my daughter and her Chinese name (real chinese name - not one the artist made up).
Pain - felt like bee stings...lots of bee stings...not the most comfortable but bearable
Regrets - none...i love it
cost - depends on your artist...I got 3 quotes for mine when initially looking into it
1. 200
2. 450
3. 150
Went to the one that costed $450 because I knew that if I went to this artist, my tattoo would be good and I had confidence in what he could do and how my tattoo would look
infection - take care of it while it's healing and it should be fine
*When looking at getting your tattoo, always helps to do your research re: artists, the design you want. the process, and the equipment...really helps curb the anxiety around it.

I never regret any of my tattoos. As corny as it sounds they really are a marker for that period in your life. Almost anybody who has them if you ask there is going to be a story. A point in there life that is a reminder to them. Some stories goo and some are bad. But all have a story.

When you see what you want you will know it. I got one on my neck this weekend (I already had one other) and I knew right away that I wanted to get what I picked out. If you have second thoughts do NOT get it. It will be there for life.
