DON'T PULL THE SCABS OFF, WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T SCRATCH OR PULL!!!!!!! Scabs are a good indication that you might not be putting enough cream on the tattoo and that it might in the sun a little too much. Pulling the scabs off can pull the ink out of the skin and leave larger gaps in the design. It happened to my first tattoo and the little ones I have on my wrist also. I know it can be hard to keep yourself from picking at it (it's really hard for me that's why I get all my tats on my back now), but if it's itching really bad make sure you always keep it moisturized with cream. Lotion probably won't help that well, but diaper rash gel is the best like A&D Ointment. A tattoo artist told me to buy it and I've been using it ever since. It workd the best. Hope this info helps!
PS- If you do happen to pull the ink out it's not that big of a deal because you can always have it touched up (you probably will have to get it touched up anyway depending on the desgin) but you may have to pay for it and if it's scarred it may be harder. And if it hurt then you might not want to go through the pain again!!

Pay attention to the poster "somebody's" answer. That poster is absolutely correct. Do not peel the scabs off. You will pull the ink out.
I just got a beautiful purple rose tattoo three weeks ago and it did not scab over, but instead grew a "membrane" type of tissue, which has been peeling for the last week like a sunburn does. I was diligent about keeping the oinment on it 3-4 times a day or when ever if started to feel stiff. After 3-4 days of the ointment I begasn using Curel lotion.
Also be careful not to over do the ointments, too much will "smother" the tattoo and keep it from healing properly. Just rub the ointment in and dab the excess of with a tissue. You should barely be able to tell there is any on. Keep it lotioned well and do not rub it vigorously with a wash cloth or towel.

Do not pick the scabs. It will leave marks on the ink and maybe get infected leaving scars on it. You need to make sure you are moisturizing it well. Give it a week or so more and the scabs will be gone.
A good moisurizer that I always use on mine is Bag Balm

It's okay, tattoos are suppose to peel. Just keep moisturizing it, and don't EVER pick it or peel at it yourself. It will look faded when it's done healing if you do that. But putting a non scented non colour lotion (like lubiderm) on it will help with the scabing, the itching, and the peeling.

DONT peel at it.. just leave it alone. They should have told you when you got the tattoo that that can happen.. however, peeling it may damage the tattoo quality. naturally, pieces will scab off (usually tiny specks) which is why you later go and get it touched up

Don't peel the scabs, they will come off in time. If you peel them you run a high risk of blotching your tattoo. I know it itches, that means its healing, resist temptation and put some lotion on it instead.
Good luck

NO!! Do not pick your scabs!! Be very careful at this point. What you do or do not do will determine how your tattoo looks. Slap your wrist if it is itchy, do not scratch it. If you pick your scabs it will leave a scar.

Do not, under any circumstances, pick at the scabs. They will heal appropriately on their own, but if you pull it off before it falls off naturally, your skin will be broken, and you risk infection.
Control the urge to scratch it, cover it loosely with gauze and tape if you feel like you can't control yourself.
If you let it heal on its own, after the scab is completely gone, the tattoo will look like it's supposed to look. If you "aid" in the descabbing process, you could end up with infection, complete with swelling, pus, redness, and pain.
Why risk it?

Don't peel them off, let them fall off on their own. You don't want to pull any ink out while pulling off your scabs. If it's itchy, slap it....if you pick at it, you run a high chance of a spotted tattoo. It will not itch for that much longer. Just keep applying lotion and slap it if it itches.
Congratulations...

Your suppose to be putting lotion on it after 24 hours every day, several times a day. Preferably the unscented kind and that helps the itching. Don't scratch or peel. That might mess up your Tattoo. Curel lotion is gooood. I use that on my face also for a night lotion and on my leggs and arms, everything really !
