what do you consider to be an "average" tattoo? i don't think there is such a thing. some people get tiny tattoos the size of quarters. and some of us get huge tattoos the size of whole bodyparts.

also tattoo price is dictated by many factors including the artists talent, the shop they tattoo at, size and difficulty. my artist charges by the hour. some charge by the piece and by how intricate it is.
i'll give you a rough estimate of $40 to $5,000 but it all depends on so many factors.

There is no average cost because every artist would charge something a little different for tattoos and tattoos range from large to small, black to color and everything in between. There really is no such thing as an average tattoo. Perhaps you should be more specific next time so its easier to know.

If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, don't price shop. Go for a quality artist and if you can't afford their work, save up for it.

depends on your artist, what you're getting, where you're getting it and how much detail your tattoo has...

For example...

My tattoo is 3x3.5
Side portrait of my daughter on my lower back on the side
Quoted the following:
1. $100-150
2. $450
3. $200

I ultimately went to the artist that costed $450 because of the artist and the fact that I knew that it would be good if I got it from him and his capabilities just because that's what he's known for. He's known around the world for portraits. (no it's not Miami Ink).

You can see from this example, prices vary alot...I would just go to various tattoo studios in your area and ask about it and about the price...

remember: good tattoos aren't cheap...

best of luck...

My small heart and rose going through it which is about one inch wide by one inch and a half long cost me $100.00. I hope that helps somewhat. I had it put to the left of my bellybutton. A good one will cost that much.

My phoenix is 4 inches by 2 inches on my arm, and it was 85 dollars. If I had chose more colors other than black and orange, it would have ran about 100 to 130 dollars.

depend on what you want, how large it is, how much detail. I've seen them as low as $50.00. And seen back pieces done that run over $1500.00.
