Pretty much anything is good, but I'd stay away from anything excessively greasy. Don't stuff yourself, just have a normal meal to keep your blood sugar stable. There is a small chance to pass out if your tolerance is particularly low and/or you haven't eaten anything.

I also tend to pass of caffeine, as aside from making me twitchy & hard to stay still, it's a diuretic - I'll want to take more breaks to use the restroom. Others are fine with it, however.

Addendum: And the "thumbs down" trolls are back! Every good answer to the question has one; I've balanced them out by giving a thumbs up to each. It's no biggie, but I do find it amusing that *each* one was hit.

Congrats on getting your first tat - take this as a good omen.

They really just mean 'eat something so you don't turn up already feeling a bit iffy from lack of food'. It could be pretty much anything.

I suppose ideally you want something that isn't going to give you a sugar rush from which you'll subsequently crash back down, so I'd stay off sugary cereals and go for something with slow-release carbs (i.e. whole grains). Something like muesli, or scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast, would be good. But this is getting very involved; really, just eat something, and drink some fluids (of the non-alcoholic variety!) and you'll be fine.

Enjoy getting tattooed!

You can eat whatever you want to eat. They ask you to eat so you don't get light headed or dizzie because you can lose a little blood just like a cut. If you're getting a big tattoo then you might be sitting there for awhile and of course the pain could make SOME people faint if they haven't ate (only if you don't take pain well).

Western Omelet with home fries and toast. Or something along those lines. Orange juice and / or Coffee, tea.
Do not drink. Tattoos are not that pain full and any reputable tattoo artist will not tattoo you if you are intoxicated or have been drinking. The alcohol makes you bleed more than normal. Be sure they use new needles. New inks. You do not want to catch Hepatitis "C" or something even worse.

Be sure that you have something that will keep your blood sugar up, something slightly sweet, but also make sure that it is something that will settle well with your stomach, as you will probably be nervous. Whatever you do, do not drink anything with alcohol, because if you do, and the tattoo artist finds out, he will cancel your appointment, and most likely not reschedule. Definitely bring along a few hard candies to suck on right before you get the tattoo done.

No good breakfast in particular. I would eat a good hearty one...just don't go on an empty stomach. Your body uses up alot of energy when it's getting tattooed and often, the reason that people faint is because they don't have enough food in them.

Wow ur first tattoo... NICE! But seriously you can eat anything, but make sure you don't drink any alcohol it will make you bleed more... And if you don't drink then perfect... But make sure if your getting a big tattoo that you need enough to fill you up till you get home make sure you clean up your tattoo with antibacterial soap and buy AD ointment.. make sure you put that on as soon as you feel your skin getting dry... DO NOT let ur skin get dry it will hurt... Just a little advice since I have 16 tattoos.. I only wanted 1, but in less than a yr I over did it... I hope your ready ...DON'T FLINCH!

I haven't gotten a tattoo but when I got my bellybutton pierced they told me to drink lots of orange juice to prevent feeling faint, so I'm sure it's the same for getting a tattoo! Good luck!

It doesn't really matter what.
Something with high carbs is good.
Sugar burns up to fast . But put some
candy pieces in your pocket, for later.
Good Luck and try to relax. Ink On..

i have 2 tats and never hear of having to eat before but if you are concerned about your blood sugar then a candy bar or something sweet. I usually just brought a pepsi in and some hard candies.
