My wife has a conference there next week and I wanted to know if it was safe to venture out to places like the French Market and Audobon Park. Any information that can be given on the area would be great.

They just lost a viewer .. heh. From the beginning it was Extremely lame.. I cant tell if show is bad in general .. or if its also the bad acting. Either way .. I wasn't impressed.

I hope others like it though.. new orleans could sure use to good attention.

Tho they did make New Orleans seem much cooler .. lol .. They made it seem that .. if us locals aren't at a jazz show.. we're at our Plantation home.. if we not at our plantation home .. we're sitting by the river. .. if not there.. then we're casually talking in front of St Louis Cathedral .. if we're not there .. then we must be hangin out at a voodoo shop !

lmao

I'm looking for a bar that has live jazz in the French Quarter. It does not have to be a high end club but I am hoping it can be somewhat close to Chateau Lamoyne on Dauphine. Any suggestions?

I going down to New Orleans to take some photos for a college essay, and I need to know what neighborhoods and wards are far too dangerous to go into. (crime wise)

everyone says nobody should feels sorry for people who live in new orleans la,, because
1 we are black
2 our city is mostly black
3 we have high numbers of black people who were on welfare
we were a low class city
4 new orleans people dont deserve tax payers money bacause we we already receving gorvement help and didt'n have much no way

but let me let america know something every state, country, city, parish, county, has their blacks, white, asians, mexicans, arabs, korean people.

not everyone in new were receiveing gorvement help and not everyone down there was poor. i never had a father figure in my life and my mother own her own property and had her own home rasie 6 kids on her own and never recieve gorverment help.
we are just like everyone else.
I'm reading these boards and forums and listening to what people are saying about us. (we should have had insurance on our houses, we should have left this and that.)
but not everyone could have left because of money problems

Has anyone been there recently? Is it safe if you stay in the French Quarter and dont go anywhere else? Is everything there still open? Does it still look the same?

I can not seem to find current, real, images of the situation and the state of the progress in the severely damaged areas. I would like to see a map also giving me an idea of the extent of the damage.

Is that area still a disaster zone from the hurricane, or has it gotten a lot better. I just want to be romantic and make it as enjoyable for the both of us as possible.

Thanks for any helpful answers!

I heard they extended the 18-month period for assistance. When will they stop assisting from Hurricane Katrina?
