The population of Orleans Parish less than 50% of what it was before Hurricane Katrina. Most of the lower 9th Ward remains a hovel. Less than ten hospitals have re-opened.

I was just there last week. Um I believe that 58% of the population has returned. And somewhere either a little above or below 50% is unrestored. It was amazing there. I went with my church youth group. Houses are demolished, but the people greet you with such appreciation when you help them.

You know when my brother & my cousin's all went down to help those people in Beaumont Texas because of Katrina, my brother said people were running up to them begging them to put a roof on their houses!! And it was so upsetting my brother actually cried!! How sad is this?!! But, he couldn't just run over and help these people because my cousin's roofing company does only those in which all of the paper work has been done and so forth, right. But, what makes me sad is the fact, that those hurricane's are only going to get worse, every year or so!! And the fact that people even want to go back and live in those "horrible living conditions" is beyond me?!!! I dont get it? It makes "No" sense to me, why on earth they'd even want to stick around, after their houses got torn to shread's, you know!! Not to mention the whole cities and town's just are NOT the same any more, at all !!! Who would want to live there period!! With utter Devistation all around them?!!! I just cannot understand HOW, or WHY they would want to go back, to such horrible conditions!!! Anyway, I'm sorry but I dont know the statistics, but I'm sure you could probably go to any library and read up on the town's and cities your concerned about, and look up their newspapers to see what the situation is all about. And they can answer your question regarding this matter. You do realize that another one's getting ready to hit Houston?!! YEP!! And my same brother was going to take his wife to some sort of "Sporting Event" or something out there, while he was going to check on a job out there, for her birthday. But, I'm thinking they may have to cancel this all together, now. I dont know, I haven't talked to them just yet about any of this. But, I will be praying they dont go, even if they think it may be safe to go ahead and go anyway, you know. Well I hope i was of some help to you hun!! Smile!!
