Is that area still a disaster zone from the hurricane, or has it gotten a lot better. I just want to be romantic and make it as enjoyable for the both of us as possible.

Thanks for any helpful answers!

Good choice! I looove New Orleans. Just an idea....there are many artists on Jackson Square. For one, you could have an artist paint a sketch of you two. You'll sit and pose and when he/she is finished they will turn it around with the words, "Will you marry me?" under your picture to the girl. While she's looking at it you get down on one knee. Also, a quirky way to do it would be to talk to one of the psychics on the square. Have it all planned out before hand and get your cards or palms read and have them say something to the extent of I see a beautiful marriage and children for you two. And a proposal in the very near future.....then you do it. Also, there are carriage rides all around the Quarter. You can pick those up at Jackson Square. Good Luck! New Orleans is different than any other city on earth, so I am sure you're proposal will be fitting!

The French Quarter is fine still and a romantic and fun place to go to pop the question. Beware - this time of year is ungodly hot and humid - if its the old world Frenchiness that you like about New Orleans then you may want to consider Quebec. A very cool and romantic place also.

Most all the tourist places are back up and running.....would have never even known there was a disaster. It was mostly the poor areas that were devestated. It would be perfect, a great spot would be in front of St Louis Cathedral.

maybe propose in the middle of jackson square right at sunset, or when ya'll are walking along the river? that seems romantic, at least to me it does. and no it is not still a "disaster zone" all the toursit areas are up and running and fine, i doubt you will even see any storm damage at all while down there.

Take her to the Columns Hotel on St. Charles Avenue. Stay there and propose there! It would be very surreal and romantic!

if you love her and she loves you, no matter where you do it it will be romantic, its all the in the way you ask, like if you ask over the phone or email thats clearly stupid, and if you're just like, "yo wanna get hitched" i think anything else you do will be ok, just say a romantic speech and youll be fine.
