Some of the federal funding allocated for cleanup and repairs is *still* tied up at the state level. The Road Home Program (Louisiana's program to assist in rebuilding homes) is a total farce. There are too many politicians trying to figure out how to get their hands on a piece of this huge money pie. There are entire neighborhoods, such as the Lower Nine, and St. Bernard, that were totally devastated. Many people still have not collected from their insurance companies. Insurance companies are pointing fingers at each other over whether it's "flood" damage or "wind" damage. Some would like to see the Lower Ninth Ward bulldozed, revitalized and developed into luxury condos. The majority of folks in the Lower Nine were homeowners who, mostly poor and black, would love to return "home" and rebuild. There are now ongoing debates about having to elevate homes in certain areas. Imagine the cost of elevating a house, concrete slab and all, to a height of 3-12 feet above its current level, in order to get homeowner's insurance and flood insurance. These are just some of the issues people are facing. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Because there has never been a similar situation in modern U.S. history. New York City has yet to rebuild on the 9/11 Ground Zero. That was the twin towers and some other buildings and this is 6 years later.

In New Orleans, 80% of the entire city was under water and we're two years from the hurricane. We have to fix all those homes, offices, streets, pipes, and everything that makes a city.

Well alot has gotten damaged in the hurricane since New Orleans is basically a fishbowl, the levies broke it was the same ones they had in th 1800's, and to get new one with modern technology needed to keep this from happening again will cost billions more than we can afford especially now.but it's only been 2 years and somethings take time
like getting a new Macy's since it got looted during Katrina then burnt down by looters. but it's only certain areas here that are bad, but we have areas that are fine and have recovered well.

New Orleans has been bad way before the hurricane, just has more publicity now,and the hurricane just made it a little worse, it's "The Murder Capital of the World" now before it was only the runner up, it has at least 2 murders a night, drugs, alot of crime basically. Some believe New Orleans is cursed since the city is founded on sin, voodoo, witch craft, and even Satan worship.

Simply put, because Louisiana's government sucks. Blanco(governor) is an idiot, she's working her butt off trying to get her fellow teachers pay raises instead of working to restore New Orleans. The road home program is a joke, the insurance agencies for those who were insured will not pay up and NO ONE is doing anything about it. You will not see any major changes until we have a new Mayor of New Orleans and a new Governor(which thank goodness is coming up)!

most of the city has been rebuilt fortuitously, yet there are nonetheless some areas of the city that has been left on my own. The victims have all been taken care of by way of FEMA(in no longer so great trailers however). the sorrowful area is there continues to be human beings whinning and complaining approximately no longer having a place to stay or no money, yet in my eyes, this is their fault. it rather is no longer so problematic to get a job, yet curiously those human beings make it look love this is impossible. So yeah the city is off the mattress great!

FYI- A majority of ppl from N.O.L.A. believe as I that those levees didn't break, they were blown up by the government!! I spoke w/ a woman from the NAACP and she said she went down there and stood on the damn leveee and said you can tell it was blown up, not just knocked down by the water!!

The Government is allowing this in the hopes that the black community won't come back & they can take over the city! But anyone w/ a brain knows that the blacks (Creole's) make N.O.!!

I'm white BTW!!
