I run track and cross-country but always stop running in between races and practices because i give up. I was wondering if there was a way to get bad thoughts out of my mind so i can keep going. I always think about the pain and giving up while running...... I'm not sure how everyone else gets through the pain. Please help!!!

I'm trying to get my 400 meter time in track under 50 seconds, I'm currently running 52s. Do squats help you with the 400 meter? Adding some other recommendations to improving my 400 meter time would be helpful. Greatly appreciated, thanks.

I always hear my coach talking about heats. I asked my friend about it, and she was VERY vague.

I love to exercise (outdoors) and I absolutely cannot stand it when it rains on me... Can somebody recommend me a good brand of water resistant/proof gear I can wear that's decent-looking and isn't encumbering?

I have flat-feet and wear the Asics Gel-1110 shoes.
They said they would help a little for over-pronating and would deliver support, but my feet hurt like crazy.
I have arch pains whenever I run miles.
I tried to buy arch support orthotics, but they even
made my arch pains 5x worse.
I don't know if my flat-feet are one of a kind
because those arch supports should have helped.
Can anyone help me on shoe selections or give me any suggestions for insoles?

I run several times a week and I have the hardest time finding a good pair of headphones that stay on my ears. I've tried the wrap-around ones (they're called earhook headphones) and apparently my ears aren't big enough or something because they don't stay on. I have also tried the in-ear I-pod earphones and those are pretty bad too. I don't want a huge headset, but I want something that will stay on. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks.

I run the 400m and am currently trying to be the first person to fuse cross-country and sprinting. I run with the cross country team and sprinting team on the same day so I get double the workout. I want to know how do you get your maximum speed to be faster? Does it have to be football-distance type of exercises such as 40-60m sprints? The fastest sprinters on the team are football players, and they really don't run distances up to 200m often.

Before I've run, lately, I've been drinking a Red Bull just to give me a little bit of an energy boost during my run. Is this bad for me or my running?

it's not bad enough to make me have to stop running, but it definitely makes it difficult to keep going, especially when i'm not feeling entirely motivated to begin with. i'm only 13, so im still growing, could this be a cause of it? i've been running since i was 5 years old, so my legs are definitely used to the wear and tear... that said i definitely do not run too much and make sure i take 2 weeks of rest after every season, so it's not a result of overtraining. any ideas of the cause and how i can help this?

Alright I was talking to this one person aka "mimster". She thinks that running is better but i think cross country skiing. We are both high jumpers and 100 meter runners so which one would be better for those events. It also is snowing where we live. Going for the same distance (3 miles).

ok. I'm running a mile at states this weekend. I know I'm not going to win, unless many people get sick or die between now and then. I want to do my best, so what should I think about before and during the race that'll make me run better than my personal record.
