I am 18, 5'4, 200lbs. I am away at college and I want to lose weight. What should I do to get started (like how far should I run, for how long, etc.)
I already walk about 1-2 miles a day without getting out of breath so I think I can skip the walking stage and just start to jog or run. I also workout because I am on 2 sport teams in college but we don't do that much running just suicides if we do anything.

whats the best track sneaker for me? I have run distance in the past, im going to switch my events to hurdles and possibly some sprints. However, my coach will still probably throw me in some distance races when im needed so since im in all these is there like a universal type of shoe?
The distance shoes I have now are really old, so i wouldnt want to use them.

I find that running on the treadmill is consistent for heart and cardio, but i find it more of a lifting action compared to pushing, its not the same, i also notice that running on the treadmill isn;t as effective in burning fat as compared to sand or road etc... why so ? i am more consistent on the treadmill then on road or cross country sometimes i am slow and sometimes fast but treadmill is just one pace for 25-30 mins.... anyhue probaly to do with diets, anyone else got similar results ?

Thanks in advance!

I am a fereshman (highschool team) and I was wondering if i should do the 1600 in track or the 100 to 200. In 7th grade, i did the 100 in 14.9 and last year, in 8th grade i did the 1600 in 6:23. I enjoy running the mile more, but which should i train for this year? Our first meet is monday, and so far i have been training with the sprinters, but the coach is willing to move me.
