i have a bunion only on one foot. it is generally not painful. i'm a runner, and i know that surgery would put me out of commission for a couple months. but it is unsightly and makes it difficult finding shoes that fit both feet properly.

I am running my first race (5k) tomorrow in over 10 years. The race is at 10am and I am probably going to be waking up at 8:30am. What should I eat before the race? I always usually have a Metrx w/ flaxseed oil for breakfast everyday, but I am hearing too much protein slows you down for a race. I am wondering what are some more appropriate options?

I'm training for a boxing match in April and possible two or three Muay Thai (kick boxing) matches after that and professional Mixed Martial Arts fight.

How far and hard should I run? How many time a week should I run?

I already have very good stamina but want it to be even better so it'll be harder for me to get tired. I use to be in ROTC so I use to run two or three miles everyday but that was a while ago. I've not really run much since that.

Hope someone can help me with this. Thanks

I live in a cold weather state and suffered a hamstring injury while running the open 100m (the temp was around 35-40 degrees at the time of the race). I do not want that to happen again this year. Should I also use a cream to enhance keeping my muscles warmed up between races?

i have recently started running track, and i don't know what's wrong, but my legs hurt soo bad on the inside, about 1 1/2 inches above my ankle bone. there are bumps on both and it hurts a lot to touch them. when i ran today, i ran a 400 in a meet. it didn't seem to hurt so much when i went fast, but afterwards, i could barely stand. does anyone have any idea what this is? also, how long would it probably take to heal? would i be out for the rest of the season?

I've been told i'm a good runner and that i'm pretty fast, I'd like to join track team but the thing is my performance really isn't that great when i know a bunch of people are watching me. I get nervous and don't focus and i look at them more than ahead. It's really hard to like not notice them there. Plus i'm not a people person so i don't like crowds. I don't make friends easily especially with girls. I don't want to look like a fool but then again, but i want to join something and i do love to run and i think being athletic would be something i'd enjoy alot.
I'm very paranoid and i also get scared that people laugh at me.

I'm about 5'8, which is probably a handicap, and I ran a 4:54 mile and a 2:14 800m last year as a Freshman. I didn't used to be any better than average but when I started playing school sports in 7th grade I improved my mile time by nearly 2 minutes so that I had a 5:18 mile time. I can also only run maybe a 57 400m right now...I guess I'm just asking if I even have a chance of being an elite runner. Also, if anyone has any tips on what I need to improve on and how to do so that would help.

Ok, so I just started doing track again for the first time in five years. I used to do jumps, but our jump coach is recuping from back surgery, so I've had to do sprints so far. I realize how out of shape I am, but every day, the soreness and exhaustion builds, and the training gets harder. Today was one of our "easy" days, where we ran warmups, buildups, ran up a huge hill twice, and then lifted weights. Everything is sore and I can barely move. Plus, I am the slowest runner on our entire team. Help please! Also, just fyi, i have osgood-schlatter, or however you spell that, in my right knee.

I'm planning to purchase a heart rate monitor today and put it to good use. What is a good training zone for someone who is 5'6" and 130lbs? HELP! I hope to have my belly in shape by June :o)
