are spikes good?? my friend is getting them...or can i just use regular asics or nike or w/e

New Balance are recommended by podiatrists. I've owned many pairs, and they make you feel like you're running on air.

You'll need a pair of training shoes (normal running shoes with good support- asics have a great neutral feel, are not too narrow and are very supportive) and you'll also need shoes for competition; spikes. You don't train in spikes and you don't compete in training shoes so you'll need both. The advantage is that when you do compete, it's wonderful because your spikes are SO light compared to your training shoes.
Nike has good spikes and you really don't need to pay a high price- you can usually find them for around 40-50. Good luck wtih your season!

Get a pair of high heeled sneakers with spike heels... You'll look great in running shorts... just kidding
If you are competing, then get racing flats with spikes, but be careful with the length, you don't wanna be disqualified. When you are practicing, use a slightly heavier shoe; but also practice a few times in the spikes so you get used to them.
For everyday use, get a pair of shoes that is comfortable. I like New Balance for the widths and light weight.

if your running the 100 and 200 meters you really need to spikes cause not only do they look good but they also cut your time down and make you a lil faster and you can get better grip cause try to run the 100 with regular shoes and then try it with the spikes and you will see a difference.
