Wow is all I have to say. That is a very good mile time, that is even better than 12 year old boys.
You should run cross-country if/when you are in high school.
You'd be one of the top runners,
But make sure you try hard.
You have so much potential for a 12-year old!
You could be looking at state finals in your high school future.
Good luck with everything!

5:22 as a 12 year old girl.. now i think that makes you a future olympian with Jordan Hasay and those are just rare... she ran a 5:20 when she was in the 6th grade... I think If you're going that fast now you will probably be able to get after a sub 4:30 mile one of these days and a sub 9:40 in the 2-mile.. however, I don't believe that you run a 5:20...

This means that as a 12 year old you would have been 18th in the entire state yesterday!

Now, I suspect that you know that you are good. I can't imagine that you did that and nobody told you how good it was. So, now you have strangers to tell you.

Take your God given talent, apply a lot of hard work, and you can go far in your sport!

Jeez, my first meet in high school I ran 5:49 for the mile as a freshman when I was 16 years old. Imagine what you can do when you're 16 if you keep on training.

I practiced really hard in high school and ran a 4:22 personal record as a senior, but my speed was my best attribute with a 1:56 800. For girls, that's a crazy time, especially at your age. If you are in a strong track state, you will be heavily recruited before you even get to high school. Keep working hard, don't get injured, and do OK in school, and running will open up many, many doors for you.

There aren't too many girls that young who are that fast. They are just a rare commodity.

5:22 is an excellent time!! It is better than most high schoolers. If you are training a lot just be careful of over training? You are still growing. Last year only 9 12yr.old girls ran faster in the USA. The top time was 5:05. Well good luck!!! It looks like you have a great running career ahead of you.

i think that you should start at a long time like 7:30 then 6:50 then 6:20 then you can try 5:22 you dont want to try to go really fast... past yourself i ran 3 miles in 16 minutes but i had to work really really hard

5:22 for a twelve year old girl....that's just incredible. I'm a 16 year old boy and I run cross-country and my mile time is 5:30-6ish.

btw i'm not being sexist, boys typically have more endurance than girls

that's very impressive for someone your age. Try breaking 5 minutes by freshman year. Then you'll go far as an athlete. Then just start shedding more and more seconds from there.
