I'm looking for help with every facet of orchestrating and putting together the event because I would like to bring a road race to my home town when many surrounding communities have their own 5ks or 10ks.

For the last week, I've had a sharp cramp right under my left breast, at the top of my rib cage while jogging. It is always in the same spot. I've ran the same speed and the same distance for probably the last 6 months or so and never had any trouble whatsoever and within the last week, this cramp has stopped me in my tracks.. to the point that I cannot even walk. One day, I was warming up with a slow walk and it was not 30 seconds and I got this cramp. I thought it may have been exercise related up until yesterday, I had this cramp all day long, just relaxing. With that said, I'm not convinced it's just a runner's cramp. It feels like I'm not being able to to exhale out of my left side. Is it possible to have an air bubble trapped in your rib cage? I know the usual answer is "go see a doctor", and that is indeed good advice... but I'm wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this. Btw, I'm young and healthy (I think)... too young to already be falling apart!

Thanks in advance.

I ran cross-country in the fall and had a 5k time of 20 minutes and a mile time of 6-ish minutes. I haven't run at all since then. I'm not really a 50 yard dash kind of person, but i think that i am a decent sprinter.

1. What race do you think I should run (200, 400, 1600, etc.)?

2. How much do I need to run during the two weeks remaining before spring track to get in respectable beginning-of-the-season track shape?

I have never done spring track before, so I have no idea what to do. Help!

I am 13 years old and am planning to run the Mad-City Half Marathon on May 27. Can any experianced runners help me out? First, I need to know of links to a good 12 week training schedule, and what would work best for me. I am an avid, strong, athletic person but have not run for over a month. Secondly, if anyone has run in this 1/2 marathon or any other, I would like to know what it is like, so I know what to expect. I have never been in or seen a big race like this, I've only been to track meet :/. Thirdly, a goal time for me (13 year old female) would be nice. Also, ways to stay motivated throughout the whole 12 weeks of training. And lastly, positive encouragement and tips and tricks would be very helpful! Your help will DEFINATLY be appreciated!! I don't exactly know what I'm getting into, so thanks a zillion for making me more confident about this next daring endevor I have chosen to take!

I alternate between two pairs of running shoes, I bought them around the same time and just replaced my New Balance pair with the new 790s which are nice so far. I would like to keep My INOV8 Terroc330s though they have been great. Will a GOOD footbed save my shoes from the thrift shop?

or from Personal experience. and people who have tried and tested these..

comments: Hi i am looking for particular models of shoes in 4E (wider front
foot ?)
i've got particularly strange feet, small but large like a duck.
measures heel to toe 25 cm and front foot width is close to 11 cm, making it
hard to find the right fit, low to Normal Arch, straight heal or slightly over
pronating. i run 4-5 kms a day... current dunlops US size 7.5 length (26-27 cm outersole still abit long)
but width i fit into size US 8-9 (10-12 cm width )
making it imposible to find right width shoes..

what sort of shoes do u recommend ? i've done some research and come up with
some of the following .. MEN size shoes
Asics Gel kayano (13)
Asics Gel nimbus 2007tried these on very comfy
Brooks Trance 7
Brooks Adrenalin GTS7
Brooks Beast
Mizuno Wave nirvana and range

or suggestion of brand ?
