I'm trying to get my 400 meter time in track under 50 seconds, I'm currently running 52s. Do squats help you with the 400 meter? Adding some other recommendations to improving my 400 meter time would be helpful. Greatly appreciated, thanks.

dude first of all, dont listen to brian, he doesnt kno what hes talking about, he prolly is one of those people that has bad technique. you always do squats parallel. if you do them right you can definitly run faster. i would do it in the off-season though. so that way you dont get too sore after lifting and running, which might actually slow you down. do lots of leg curls also. just think about it, squats helps your quad and glute, they help you apply more force to the ground when your running, then after you straighten out your legs, its the hamstring that pulls the track. so i would say do over legs in the off-seasons. if you really want to get fast now, work on running mechenics.

Sqauts should be part of your preseason weight training program but not the only thing you do. Squats are good to build your hams and glutes. You'll need good quads also for knee pick lift. Weights are varied depending on the point in the training cycle for developing power, exercises are implemented on a very short recovery basis: press ups, standing squats, squat thrusts, bench, cleans,

i'm guessing you're talking about a short distance because no individual fairly can sprint lengthy distance. i might want to point to authentic bulk-up your caffs, knees, and thighs. in case you seem at sprinters maximum of them do no longer have skinny legs yet solid ones which will push as difficult as conceivable. it truly is merely my answer.

I damaged my left knee with squats. Be very, very careful. If you decide to go this route, I would suggest half squats only.
