I'm told that running on worn down shoes causes a lot of damage to your feet. How can I tell when it's time to buy a new pair?

My cross country season has just started. We run about six miles a day, and i am doing decent since i practiced running 3-4 mile a day during the summer. However, after i bike home i would feel depleted and without energy for the remainder of the afternoon, and i would have very little appitie. I did cross last year as well, and i always felt great after running. I also found it much easier to concentrate. Am i doing anything wrong this year? like not drinking enough water? or do i just need to practice more?

I pushed it hard yesterday on the treadmill, running for the first time. it felt good, but my legs were burning something awful, I could feel the burn! lol So of course today the legs are a little weak. I dont want to "overtrain" and fatigue is a symptom of that, but i don't want to not do anything if i don't have to. Im no fool though, i do not want to injure myself. Can I so any treadmill today, or should I skip a day?

Hi
I'm 17 years old and run around 4 miles a day (28 miles a week) Is this what most runners would consider a pretty healthy workout?
PS
I feel great when I do this.

I play soccer, we just started the season last week. My legs have been feeling good until this week. We always start practice with a 2 1/2 mile run. I'ved been gettin sharp pain in my shin area. Which I think is a shin splints and my calve has been gettin this sharp burning pain. This is all in the left leg so this make my leg shake after I stop running. I cant run as fast, kick as hard, and cant stand up for a while and I walk with a limp. Can anyone help me?

I've been training for about 3 months and just the past couple weeks I've really slacked. I think I've become slightly burnt out....also my friend that got me into it stopped training because an important football game is on the same day as the race!! GRR...I just need any tips anyone here uses when they need to get back into it! I need some serious motivation!! I don't want to give up now!!! plus my knees hurt sometimes...i think that might be another excuse I'm using to not go running! Thanks
