Well, now I'm not convinced that's gonna improve your speed any more than just practice and speed work on the track.

The longer your feet are off the ground, the more speed you lose, just like a hurdler. Hurdlers practice getting their forward foot onto the ground as soon as it clears the hurdle because they recognize that if they are not accelerating, they are losing speed.

Good Luck

improving your stride length will NOT make you faster and actually may make you slower. You need to work on improving your turnover or cadence.

Count how many times your left foot touches during the distance and then concentrate on adding 3-5 strides. Do repeats with receovery several times per week for 2-3 weeks and you should see speed improvement.

Work on building muscles and your flexibility. The stride is lengthened behind you not in front of you. When you drive off you propel yourself forward. Your foot should contact the ground on the ball of your foot coming rearward at the speed you are moving forward in a pawing motion. Stand up tall. Keep your elbows at 90 degrees and swing your arms front to back not across your body. Try to relax your upper body, if you clench your hands and tighten up your arms it slows you down.
